UPDATE - 21 June 2025 followup visit
The Last Slice has really come together.
The pizzas were well cooked and everything was tasty. The Brooklyn Baller - Meatballs evenly spread around the base so I can recommend this one now!
Wings were very nice - had the whisky flavoured 6 wings. Fish tacos were delicious. Tried the cranberry mocktail and ginger beer. Really tasty drinks.
Apple pie drink was a big hit with the family - easily 10 of them were consumed between our party over an hour.
Had no trouble ordering from the app this time round, gf pizzas easy to spot and the meals came in an orderly fashion.
CONS Still no method of communication available to cancel, edit or advise a slightly late arrival for a reservation (other than via email - which doesnt help if urgent contact is required). Hopefully something can added to Facebook or a phone number.
First visit: Ambience is great tho music was louder than was comfortable for casual talking, which led to people having to shout.
Pizza GF was ok, not the best and not the worst.
A couple of things forgotten on the pizza, so double-check your order and what you get cos extras cost extra, haha. I put this down to opening week teething issues. Didn't want to bother staff this time around as they were swamped.
I do not recommend the Brooklyn Baller. One chunk of oversized meatball per slice and sickly sweet pasta sauce did not make this enjoyable. The more laden pizzas like pepperoni, supreme, veg supreme, etc. are better value.
Normal pizza base looked and tasted good enough (according to the normal people on the group).
Garlic bread came out with the pizza, which sucked cos we were keen to enjoy it as an entree.
3/4 opinions on truffle fries - this has a weird taste, but they all kept eating, so it couldn't have been that bad. I like truffle flavour, so it was fine by me. It was a powdery coating, which I didn't enjoy as much compared to other fries with truffle oil coating I've had at other places..
Drinks were good. Wings were great, according to other patrons.
I utterly hate the whole pay and your server makes your drinks and holds the lineup. But that's just personal preference. The order app for the table was having difficulty, and I couldn't find the gf option listed anywhere, so maybe thats something they're working on.
Staff were good about checking if you had been served at the bar.
Indoor playground and game area for kids. 2 x snooker tables and darts area (paid).
Loved the vibe, staff friendly, great range of patrons (not the scummy yobs I'm used.to encountering). All you can eat ice cream bar is great for kids and adults.
Book online to guarantee a spot. Couldn't communicate with the venue as their Facebook page messenger was glitching (and no way to phone from what I could see), so changes to reservations may be difficult for a while.
CONS parking is crap. But i already knew that from World Gym days.
Ask for a table away from the kids' play area if you don't want your ears...
Read moreWe were pretty disappointed with our experience at Last Slice Midland. I booked online for a table for 4, when I arrived the wait staff had seated us right next to the kids’ playground – not ideal when you’re trying to have a conversation and constantly interrupted by screaming kids. It would be great if there was an option to choose seating preferences when booking.
There was also an issue with the ordering app. I ordered food but it never came out, and when I asked the waitress she went to check with the kitchen and then came back asking to see a receipt. The app never gave me a confirmation, and oddly enough the other girls at our table didn’t get confirmations either but their food still came. Her mannerism in handling it felt quite rude and unhelpful – she didn’t offer to get the food started and sort out payment after, which would’ve been the reasonable thing to do.
On top of that, the 2 hour seating limit feels unnecessary and made the night feel rushed, especially with how long the food took to come out. Dishes also came out at different times instead of together, which wasn’t great. Even the gentleman seated next to us mentioned the same thing.
Lastly, it doesn’t look very professional when wait staff are walking around with their phones sticking out of their back pockets – it takes away from the overall experience.
Overall, the night felt a bit disorganised and not very enjoyable.
REPLY: Hi, thanks for your reply and for clarifying a few of those points. We just wanted to clear up a couple of things on our end too.
When booking through the app, the only options that appear for us are “Dining” or “Bar” – there isn’t an option to select a family area, so unfortunately we weren’t able to make that choice. This can be seen in the photos provided below.
We also wanted to ask how guests are meant to extend their dining times if, as you mentioned, the venue is busy and fully booked. If tables are already reallocated to others, it doesn’t seem possible to stay on longer, and the booking process itself doesn’t suggest that extending is an option. It would be helpful if that was made clearer when reserving.
Thanks again for taking the time to respond – we appreciate the explanation and hope this feedback helps tighten up the booking process for...
Read moreWe were so excited to try this place and waited a few weeks after opening to check it out. Expected some small teething issues due to it just opening. Minor issue but annoying - QR code only worked for one of us to order. Family next to us said that their QR code also hadn’t worked. When ordering it tells you take note of the ETA for food which we did. It said 45 minutes for us which we decided to commit to as we were excited to try the food. After around 45 minutes, one of the meals came with no mention of the other one. We waited another 15 minutes then asked the bar staff who went to check with the kitchen and came back to say it should hopefully be out in 5 minutes. We waited another 10 minutes, asked again and was told that unfortunately they couldn’t say exactly when our food was coming out but offered us free ice cream which was appreciated. After waiting a bit longer, we asked one of the servers who was carrying food and was told that the pizza oven was completely backed up and they had no idea how long it would be. After waiting longer again we decided to ask for a refund and leave. By this point it had been an hour and a half since we ordered. We had the undelivered meal refunded however was still frustrated as we’d waited so long and one of us sat there eating alone. On top of this, the chips did not taste fresh and the sandwich wasn’t great for the meal we did receive. Staff were overall lovely and we felt sorry for them as it seemed that we weren’t the only ones having issues with our order. Was frustrating to not be given an update on our order and the whole experience felt like a waste of time and money.
2 stars as the venue seems really cool and most staff were friendly. Very unlikely we’ll be back and won’t be recommending to...
