House of Lowe — Restaurant in Mittagong

Found this restaurant as we passed by the town on our road trip and boy how we are pleasantly surprised. We ordered 2 mains and 2 soups. Here are a summary of the dishes: Combination Seafood & Bean Curd Hot Pot: bean curds were very soft and well fried with great balanced flavour of sauces. Plenty of prawns and they were not rubbery with several vegies on sight. Portion was generous for us. Crispy skin chicken: tender and flavourful chicken even the part of the chicken breast. Again, portion was generous. Chicken & sweet corn soup: flavour & thickness was just right and not too salty. My 8 year old daughter finished the whole bowl all by herself as her entree. Short soup: the wontons were well cooked and the soup was yummy. I think they were at least 6 wontons. Service was great & efficient, amenities were clean. Walked in late ish in the evening, well past the dinner rush, service was immediate and gracious, staff went out of their way to be friendly not just our server but all the staff that passed our table, staff frequently came back to check if we needed anything which is unheard of service wise. The menu was extensive, decisions decisions! The food was hot, and fast coming out of the kitchen, servings were reasonably priced and very generous, we ended up taking half home. My only gripe is that our request for spicy wasn't as spicy as I would have liked. Warm... but not spicy. We came here for lunch on a Friday. Easy to find, wasn't overly busy which I loved because it had such a relaxed vibe. Staff were extremely helpful & lovely. Food was delicious, we had garlic chicken, satay chicken & Mongolian beef. The Mongolian beef was abit sweet for our liking but thats my only compliant, other then that everything was perfect, meat was tender, not too many veggies and rice was good too. Lunch specials include entrees with rice as a main meal which i love the idea of and not something ive seen at other chinese restuaraunts. Id definatly come again next...
