Besay the waiter tried hard but he didn't have much to work with, asked for some small plates that came out greasy which we showed him and he agreed they weren't clean. Ask Besay for a bottle of Giesen sauvignon blanc but he couldn't give me a price (this wine is available for $14 at Dan Murphys which is probably where this small restaurant would buy from) they charged me $49. I understand there is over heads but I consider this mark up as exorbitant!
Now the main meal that we ordered was schnitzel, it came out dark mahogany in colour and parts were black. Shouldn't have left the kitchen. The vegetables were frozen packet type and water logged and the potato was a grey lumpy mash everything was tasteless.
Then to add insult to injury they over priced the schnitzel by $8, management said it was the computer's fault.
There is no embellishment in this review, sadly I say to management, we will never return as the experience was very disappointing!
In response to your comments regarding my review
I don't remember the restaurant being busy on the Wednesday night we visited, but I do remember how chaotic it was with customers complaining at the register to the point the young waitress came to our table a few times and apologised for the noise.
We chose to make our complaints about the dirty plates and the two very over cooked schnitzels to Besay, the senior waiter who witnessed both issues and said he would convey our complaint directly to you.
We did notice that there has be other complaints about well over cooked schnitzel after our visit.
When paying our bill we noticed we had been overcharged and we spoke to you (Sarah) politely then spoke briefly and left.
Never to return to The Hideout...
Read moreWe had dinner there tonight and unfortunately it was just an awful experience. They had one large table and just my partner and I also, when we first arrived I asked the boss's daughter who was running the restaurant how long it would be as she advised it might be slow, we asked if it would be an hour to which she said 'oh no, under an hour'. Our food took an hour and a half to come out and only came out after I stood by the food and waited and then took my own plates, this was after we had been told it would only be 10 minutes maybe 3 or 4 times over the last 40 minutes- The 2 front of house staff were the only saving grace, one waitress it was her first night and she looked on the verge of tears and another waitress who finally was able to get them to make my food after pushing them, she had lovely demeanor and did her best-unfortunately the chips were cold, the burgers were wrong and just awful, we regret waiting but after waiting an hour already we felt like we had already wasted our night- I would say it could be better less busy, but the truth is it's understaffed, there are no actual chefs, only young. very stressed out workers who didn't deserve the abuse they were being hurled as it wasn't them- it was poor management from both the owner for taking a large booking and not being there or hiring extra staff to cover and the owners daughter for not being transparent about wait time and then ignoring us for the evening...
Read moreI would like to start with calling out the appalling and disgusting attitude of the last 4 most recent reviewers (All from the same group) of this establishment. The unwarranted attack and false claims to someone’s business is not only disgusting behaviour but also should always be called out when witnessed.
Their claims are unwarranted and unacceptable.
I witnessed the whole ‘drama’, the customers were nothing short of rude, passive aggressive and completely disrespectful.
The heard mentality of said particular family showed how the rotten apples can truly poison the ripe ones.
This was a family that clearly wanted a free meal and didn’t care how they got it, as long as they did.
The owners of the bar and grill are a super hard working family business who I have witnessed bend over backwards for all their customers, even those who deserve nothing except a kick out the door.
I am a regular, and I have seen this establishment grow and become a warm and welcoming restaurant that provides nothing short of their best efforts to make all feel welcome.
To the Hide Out Bar and Grill; keep going, don’t let the pests get the better of you.
You guys are doing a...
