The Haven - Cafe & Takeaway — Restaurant in Mount Gambier

Unfortunately extremely dissapointed with the high cost and poor quality of our food.

Big breakfast was not good. Half a mushroom sliced thinly, a few cherry tomatoes, bacon was more rind than bacon and not rendered. The bacon was soft and unpleasant.

The eggs were the worst. Burnt and crispy, fried to death. My daughter got bacon and eggs on toast and her eggs were still slimey ontop and under cooked.

Hubby and other kiddo got eggs Benedict and their poached eggs were hard boiled. Someone give this chef a lesson in cooking eggs.. please. It's a breakfast staple.

Also the toast you get with your food is not even equivalent to a slice of bread. Two small cut triangles of turkish bread. So imagine one turkish bread would be used for 3 to 4 separate dishes. Yes they are that small.

Service was friendly, however took over 30mins wait for our takeaway quiche and hot chocolate well after the lunch rush was long over. Quiche was alright, but 'European orange hot chocolate' (which I was really excited about) was hardly lukewarm and presented as an ordinary watery hot chocolate, so we had to send it back, which was another 10min wait. It seemed they may have microwaved it? Not sure what they did, the consistency was the same, it was slightly warmer but tasted worse, had lost all flavour and I couldn't drink it anyway so we quietly left instead of...

We had luch here and we where very disappointed it cost us around $70 for 2 kids meals 2 adult meals and 2 kids milk shakes and a thick shake. Our drinks came over and the thick shake was just a milk shake. It wasn't until my husband asked the staff as she walked off that it was meant to be a thick shake it was then that she told us they had no ice cream and didn't even offer to give us back the price difference.
