My husband and I ate our way through Eastern and South Eastern Australia over a month's time and ate at many restaurants, cafes and Asian eateries. Our stop in Mt. Gambier to see the crater lakes and sinkholes was a good stopping point between the Barossa Valley and the Coonawarra wine region as well as the Great Ocean Road heading toward Melbourne. On our first night in Mt. G, we were ready for a simple and easy dinner after a long day of driving. This large town doesn't have a lot of restaurant choices (and be mindful most close by 7:00 pm), but Wild Ginger had some positive reviews and stayed open a little later. We made the right choice... the food was some of the best Thai we've ever eaten. The Pad Thai and Thom Ka soup were both savory, flavorful, and authentic. I will dream forever about the soup! Go if you can. The staff is very gracious and kind. The atmosphere is better than most you will find in Mt. G. I recommend dining in, although they do offer take away. It was an all around good experience. We also brought our own wine from the Barossa, so they...
Read moreIm not a person who writes review, but this one waitress’ attitude was really bad and I cannot ignore it.
There was a waitress, who seems like Thai, with very rude and arrogant attitude while serving us. They served the wrong food and told us their policy is that we still have to pay for the food once its made even though it is their fault. She said ‘im thai and i know that Pad See Ew is originally thin rice vermicelli noodles’ very loudly and rudely. I googled and it seems that it should be flat rice noodles originally. She said ‘you should have asked if you wanted flat rice noodles, its not our problem, Im just trying to protect my staff’, and rudely walked away.
I myself worked as a Thai restaurant waitress before for few years and i dont appreciate being treated this way at all. It would be nice if they let her know to be polite and speak nicely.
All in all, all is fine, just that one waitress who was extremely rude who made our...
Read moreI had a terrible experience at this place. I was racially profiled and harassed one evening while I was out for dinner with friends. I was the first of my friends to arrive. I walked into the restaurant and a staff member quickly walked to meet me at the door and anxiously asked what I was doing there. This is a restaurant. One would assume that anyone who walks into it was there to buy food. I explained that I was there to meet friends for dinner. He demanded that I stand at the door while he goes back to the counter at the back of the restaurant to confirm a reservation under my friend’s name. While this interaction was going on, another patron walked past me to be met at the counter and served. One of my Caucasian colleagues arrived and waited with me. I pointed out to the employee that she was one of the people I was meeting for dinner. He directed apologies to her saying that the restaurant was fully and they could not...
