"A passion for tradition", and yet they like to stray quite far from the traditional conservative ideals and such. The watering hole of the city's hipsters and hip community. Being situated in where it is, the middle of town, between a cluster of other stores, the building itself is quite cramped, in comparison to other cafe's at least. Metro represents a modern, hip styling, (like a cluster of the same painting on the wall for example, each with a different colour.) The atmosphere is very modern. High ceilings, and the keen eye would've noticed a messy paint job on one of the pillars high up there. Sit at a table as you enjoy your coffee and soon, you'll see the local wildlife come in. Lovers of modern art, local music, tight pants and fedoras. Or maybe you'd prefer a booth? There's those there too. Or you can always sit outside and admire the pleasant, serene view of the passing traffic, maybe a glance of the cave gardens across the street. The selection of coffee is ample with a sufficient selection of cafe styled treats, as you would expect it to have. But there's more...What if you don't feel like a coffee? There's always a bar too. I didn't purchase anything from the bar, because like any sane person, i went to the cafe for coffee, which i thought was reasonably priced for what i ordered. And i thought nothing wrong of what i ordered, i was quite happy. No, i didn't have to wait long, but i guess that would all depend on what you're ordering, when you're ordering and how polite you're ordering. My order didn't take long at all. As much as i personally loathe its style and atmosphere, it does succeed in its field, being a cafe; there's a reason why it's got hundreds of positive reviews. The owner's "passion for tradition" has gone, noticeably, but if you're into a modern, hip and social vibe, Metro would definitely be a place...
Read moreSo manners sucked, clothes were lacking, lack of knowledge. Twice we visited. First time wasn't too bad. Young lass was polite. Second time: asked questions about food ingredients, young girl didn't seem sure of the ingredients "I'm sure it doesn't have that... " isn't a yes or no, it's I'm guessing. You work there learn your stuff. If spent more time on your work as you do your looks you'd do better at service. Also a smile wouldn't of hurt, like a real smile not fake one. Also more clothes. I get youre young and fashionable. But you're serving hot foods, clothes protect that from burns and it's more hygienic to wear more clothes. Even an apron. Sorry I'm not there to check you out so don't need to see your belly button. The waitress served the hot drinks OVER my baby. Burn hazard if dropped or bumped. Also food was lacking. If I'm getting two puny singed pancakes more topping wouldn't go astray. The preserved fruit used isn't that expensive. Also the pancakes were rubbery. Not sure of its because they were over cooked or mixture was aged and airless before cooking. Also when the serving was upped from half to full (pancake) give more toppings. Not half serve. How far do we have to stretch the topping budget. A spoonful of warm berries for 4 pancakes. Stingy as. As least the whipped...

The staff collectively let the place down. It's like they purposely hire people with no attention span, care factor, or customer skills. Imagine all the unwanted retail workers - they work here. Upon entry, our service was rude. Then they bought out only 2 of the 3 drinks, having to be asked for the third but still getting it wrong. They bought out my daughters food but the wrong meal for my son, and failed to bring out mine altogether without me having to ask for it. Basically I had to query and ensure we got the right stuff every step of the way.
As a $75 "quick" lunch for a parent and 2x kids, it was a major let down and I'm amazed this place is open. They must rely on the non-returning tourist and I'd be shocked if they had regulars. You are better off going to the supermarket or any of the typical fast food joints that serves low quality food but at least with consistency.
There are other places to eat, go there first, or if you have to,...
