A quaint little place with great food and service. Doesn't have art deco look or even a modern look but I find places that are not pretentious, usually have great food and this one did not disappoint. Let's start with the furniture. The chairs are made of cast iron so are not light to manoeuvre. Limited tables, so a small number of patrons at any one time. You can ring ahead and book a table. Toilets are outside and have a code. It is difficult to see the numbers and the queue waiting outside is testament to that and also cos it's shared with other premises as one of our number found. Wouldn't want to be busting. Not sure about state of hygiene but generally find if bathrooms are shared, they're not clean as if each outlet is waiting for the other to clean it. We ordered starters: Kanom jeeb (Dim sum/siu mai) made of chicken and prawns. These were delicious and the sauce was great too. Spring rolls were nice and so was the Satay Chicken sticks. Could taste lime leaves in the satay which added an extra counter to the peanut. I was so hungry I forgot to take pics of our starters. Mains: Deep Fried Barramundi in Grad pad sauce. Whole Barramundi meat was cut off the fish and the pieces deep fried along with the skeleton. Presentation was good and apparently, so was the taste with our dinner eating everything but the head, cos he didn't want to appear native🤣 by sucking the bones. The veges were good too cos only the head and bones were left. Chicken Pad Thai: Was beautiful but our diner, not being a big eater or because of our starters, took the rest home in a clean plastic container. I had Prawns with lime leaf and peppercorn sauce. My prawns were a little overcooked but the vege and fresh lime leaves made up for that. Dessert: I had Black sticky rice and Thai custard. This was very good but could have done with extra sauce or what appeared to be milk. I'd forgotten to take a pic again but looks exactly like the picture in the menu. Food didn't take long except one of the staff who served me when I ordered dessert noticed I still hadn't got it after 15mins. So she hurried the cooks up and I had it 2 mins later. Overall, we were happy with our meals. The service was friendly, genuine and great with almost instant service and clean tables. To order: Browse your menu then order and pay at the counter. Has a high customer turnover as most people treat it like dinner at McD's, that is easy and run. We took a little more time cos I had a nice House red - Shiraz - actually had three glasses and we enjoyed the atmosphere, good and service. I would...
Read moreLittle b is Thai restaurant on beafort street. Made a booking reservation by phone as the online system blocked out the day I wanted to go. Thursday :October. This was easier then booking online. Parking is limited across both the public car parks and out front on the main street. Parking is free for the first hour additional cost after that I paid roughly $3 for an extra 1.5hrs. The toilets are in the alley shared with all eateries that share the alley, an access code is needed. Ask the resturant staff for the code. You will be handed a strip of paper with the code. Take a napkin with you as the toilets run out of paper from time to time. Little B is Neche, with an outdoor street food astetic and in indoor trendy vintage feel from the tiling to the posters and telephones on the wall. The restaurant also had Halloween decorations that looked good except for the black banner on the sign as you walk in ( get rid of it or replace it with webbing if you really want to decorate that sign). Looking at the menu they catered for the basic dietary requirements and are vegan friendly. Beverages are very affordable, can be purchased under $30. I ordered the Brazil chilli noodles and black rice mango pudding. I opted for tofu and flat noodles, this dish was not spicy, packed with the flavor or fresh herbs and spices this dish may also be known as spicy drunken noodles this is the name I know it by. The black rice mango pudding was absolutely delicious the balanced flavors of coconut to mango yumm. The size of the meal good for price. Enough for 2 small eaters or 1...
Read moreI was here for dinner and found the owner to be quite rude. I asked for fish chilli sauce, I could see that she was busy so I waited for 10 mins before I came to the counter to ask her whether I could have the fish sauce. She said “ ok it’s ready as you can see I was busy” After that she brought our dish, don’t know why she put the dish a bit far to the next table so I moved it back then I could eat it, a minute later she came back she gave me a look that “ de heck, Why did you move the plate”. So she actually moved that dish again when I was in the middle of eating that. I said: I’m sorry but I’m eating that dish. She said: oh it is easy to move back. We ordered quite a bit but none of dishes were good, food is average. Food:...
