Now in the old Meatball Bar building, the new TFI is in a better spot than previously, with the big French doors lending to a nice vantage point of Beaufort St, and a nice breeze to boot. Walked in for an early reservation to an empty restaurant though the online orders were doing a roaring trade. Note: if you order takeaway here there is no apparatus to keep the food hot, it’s all plonked on the bar where it can sit for up to half an hour before being collected. Back to our meal and the starters of Spicy Popcorn chicken and chilli scallops came out. The chicken was over spiced and had no discernible taste but the scallops were very good. Mains of prawn biryani, butter chicken and a tandoori roti were all top notch and very tasty. The biryani was only half eaten and when we asked to take it home we were presented with a couple of containers and told to “do it ourselves”. This is a small thing but they weren’t overly busy and didn’t seem interested or overly attentive, with most focus put on their takeaways. For the price here you do expect better.

Amongst a plethora of choices, we have absolutely no regrets choosing Two Fat Indian's in Mt Lawley. My wife ordered a Mojito and it exceeded her expectations. We started with masala papadums, which I would describe as spicy Indian bruschetta. My wife ordered Dum Pukht Chicken which was carefully described by the waitress as being "hotter than medium" as she made sure we were ok with that. We also ordered rice, garlic naan and a Lamb Biryani. True to their word, the Dum Pukht Chicken was quite spicy, but really delicious. I appreciated that the on-the-bone chicken was cut up as I would expect if I were eating in India. The Lamb Biryani was also delicious. We spent a touch over $50 a head (including drinks) and we ended up taking some biryani home. Because we were out with our dogs, we were seated outside, but the staff were very attentive and made sure we were satisfied. Next time we will probably leave the dogs home and eat inside. Two big thumbs up 👍👍

Well where do we start. PERTH’S FINEST INDIAN CULINARY EXPERIENCE as they say on the website is definitely hitting above there weight. Firstly I would like to say that we had the mixed banquet and the size portions were decent but that's about it for me. I didn't really like the taste of the dishes but that could be personal. What was bad tho was the ontray off lamb kebab and chicken drumb sticks tasted ok but the lamb kebab ends could not be cut or even stabbed with a fork it was as hard as a rock. The food was Luke warm, I don't even think it was at a safe temperature to surve. Food did come out quickly and the limited time we talked with the staff they were pleasant. Restaurant it's self looked dirt but the table tops were clean tho. Personal wouldn't go back.

This was my 3rd visit in a week. Came in to realise the staff has double standards for local Australians and Asians. (This is what it seems like from my point of view). The managers seem to be very nice but the staff... was very disappointed with the service today. They are usuall not like this but idk what was going on today.

I hope the managers sees this review and correct this ASAP so customers like me could enjoy a meal at this place where delicious Indian food is served.

So what happened was I asked for a table with more space because the table for two was too tiny. The staff said that the table is for more than 2 persons usually and she said she would ask her manager and get back to me. She did offer me another table but one which was connected to another so we basically had to sit with another group and dine, couldn’t help hearing all their conversations.

I realised that they offered the larger tables (the kind I asked for) for all locals that came in couples except me even after specifically asking for it. 5 minutes later the same staff offered the same table I asked for to another Australian couple that walked in. I’ve been to so many Australian restaurants before but was never treated this way. I don’t know what the name of the staff was but she was fair and around 5ft tall.

Later I went to pay at the till. The other thin staff just kept frowning at me as if I was supposed to buy for her. I’m not sure what’s with all the attitude at this place today but I hope it doesn’t happen again or they won’t have a good reputation for too long.

THE FOOD: Well the food is fantastic so far!

UPDATE: So the issue was rectified I assume. I didn't contact the management because I preferred this to be anonymous. Regarding the staff, it need not be a stern warning. She probably had a bad day because she is usually cheerful and nice so I guess some training would help her. Thanks for looking into this. I have updated my rating....

I recently had the pleasure of dining at "2 Fat Indians" in Mount Lawley and I must express my disappointment in the customer service aspect. The staff, unfortunately, did not provide the welcoming and understanding atmosphere that one would expect. There seemed to be a lack of attentiveness and a disconnect in terms of customer needs. A more empathetic and attentive approach from the service staff would undoubtedly enhance the overall dining experience.

Also, I found the prices of the dishes to be on the higher side. While I understand the value placed on quality ingredients and skilled preparation, it's essential to strike a balance that aligns with customer expectations. Perhaps a reevaluation of pricing could make the restaurant more accessible to a broader range of patrons.

Additionally, The wait time for our meal was unusually long, and regrettably, it impacted the overall enjoyment of the evening. Timely service is a crucial element in providing a positive dining experience, and addressing this aspect could significantly improve customer satisfaction.

In conclusion, "2 Fat Indians" boasts a commendable culinary experience that, with improvements in service efficiency and pricing strategy, has the potential to become an even more sought-after dining destination. I offer this feedback with the hope that it contributes positively to the restaurant's ongoing efforts to provide an exceptional...

Food was amazing. My friends and I are lovers of 2 fat Indians but I am only giving it 2 stars because of the service. We were constantly asked whether our food was ok (which is fine). Then when the food finished, they asked us whether we wanted coffee, tea or dessert a few times, and then we were asked to leave at 8.15 pm when we came at 7pm because the table was booked for 8.30pm. I thought that was slightly abrupt and what we thought could have been a long eventful evening we had to cut short. We never had this service in the Claremont branch (there was a time they let us stay till midnight). We love your food but do not force us ( and I have worked as a waitress before so I knew that the waiters were trying to make us leave) to leave our table because of a reservation and pestering us with too many questions. We have given two fat Indians so much business over the years, it's not difficult to let us stay longer in your restaurant because we actually enjoy the ambience. We would eventually order dessert after an hour or 2. We were left to go home early and did not really have a good ending to the night. We will not come to this restaurant again. Instead we will go back to the one in Claremont where parking is easier and service...
