We dined at this fantastic restaurant last night to celebrate my husband's birthday, being italian ourselves we had high expectations which did not dissapoint. The Pinsa bread was light, flavouresome and went perfectly with our thinly sliced prosciutto and the soft burrata cheese when pulled open and rocket finished our antipasti perfectly. We also had the Arancini balls which Nonna said were the best she has ever had! not oily, lots of flavour and served with rocket, which we all love and a sauce. We each had a pasta dish, mine was the Vongole and the pasta was cooked to perfection and the sauce coated the pasta perfectly with none left over in the bottom of my dish, being Vongole it can be sometimes served salty but this was not, seasoned perfectly, the last time I remember having Vongole this good was when I was in Italy. Our boys both had the Gnocchi in tomato sauce and they rated the Gnocchi soft, light and tasty, they had not had Gnocchi served with the straciatella cheese before, however they ate it all. They said that they would have preferred it with parmesan but that would be all they would change. We found the serving size of the main meal to be good, especially if you are having an Antipasti also. Desert we had the tasting board which was presented on a tier, beautifully served and the flavours wonderful. Favourite was the Frittelle, our family say this is the best Frittelle they have tasted. Tiramisu which is a staple in any italian restaurant was smooth, creamy and tasty, our liking would be a stronger coffee flavour but still very good. Drinks were flowing at our table, Cosmopolitan for me, very nice. Campari for Nonna which made her feel right at home. Atmosphere was wonderful, lots of lively chat in the restaurant. Service and attention to our table was on point and as it was my husband's birthday he got a Limoncello which was perfect to finish the meal. I would highly recommend a visit to Tommasinos, you will not be dissapointed, the staff, restaurant ambience, quality of produce and food it...
Read moreI have booked the table a month before for our wedding anniversary, I was so excited as I love Italian food. Unfortunately our excitement has ended at the door. We have been given the only table next to the main entrance with the door being constantly open or opened with new guests arriving and standing next to us. We have asked the host to give us a different table,as that was far off what we expected for a romantic anniversary dinner. Well that didn’t go well. The owner arrived and bluntly told us, that are all tables for 2, nothing else they can offer. He was very loud and aggressive, making us a centre of attention to other guests. Definitely doesn’t know how to make people welcome.
They have 3 tables for 2 ppl only squashed by the front door. There was nothing else they could offer us except 2 seats by the bar table by the window, that we meant to share with 3 other people. After we sat down we had to ask for menus as no one was allocated to our section or just paid attention. At that point we were so disappointed, we were not able to enjoy our time there. We told the host, that we won’t be staying, she apologised. My husband went to inform the owner that we will be leaving, which he got upset and blamed him for the whole situation being aggressive. We came there for a quiet, romantic anniversary dinner and we left absolutely gobsmacked and shaken by his approach to us. It was very busy and he might have been under pressure, but that’s not right to treat his customers this way. The only person who apologised to us on numerous occasions was the host lady, so we do appreciate it.
It’s unfortunate we haven’t had a chance to try their food, this restaurant was recommended to us for a great food. We won’t be...
Read moreI had to edit my review, sadly, after years of being a regular as the experience we had last night has ruined the idea of tommasinos we had in the years. Not sure if it’s under new management or if they sold the business, but quality dropped significantly, pinsa is not even a pinsa, small portions, ingredients didn’t seem to be that fresh and everything was overpriced. I’ve always been happy to pay more for a better quality, but last night, it felt like I’ve been scammed. My last time at tommasinos and so sorry to have seen staff, chefs, quality and all that made tommasinos my absolute favourite restaurant gone like that.
This was my first impression of the venue:
Absolutely recommended it! If you don’t know what a pinsa is, please visit this place and I can guarantee is authentic! We tried the strangozzi cacio e pepe and it was absolutely delicious!!! So far, is one of my favourite place in Perth, food is extremely good, fresh products and very fast service, even on busy nights we never waited too long, staff is always on top of the things. I truly love that their uniforms are actually the painting on their wall! A massive thanks to the chefs, food is always great and thank you a lot to the FOH staff as well, you guys are always so kind, smiling and you all have great knowledge. We were a table of 5, had 4 pinsas, the sharing cacio and pepe pasta dish, a bottle of wine, coke, a coffee, 4 spirits and one sharing dessert for less than $70 per person, absolutely perfect. I would strongly recommend the simple Made in Italy pinsa, a great combination of flavours and a good example of how simple ingredients can make a dish to die for. Well done team, you all make this...
