Isabella's Trattoria — Restaurant in Mudgee

I would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Mudgee - especially because it was almost full on a Wednesday night.

We arrived in Mudgee late afternoon and was craving pasta after a very long road trip. We found this very cute and beautiful restaurant in the central part of town. The service was great, especially the daughter of the owner of the restaurant. She was extremely friendly, helpful and efficient during our service - to top it off, she gave me and my partner great suggestions for local wineries and distilleries in the Mudgee area. Left feeling extremely full with doggy bags in my hand because of the generous serving size and we also couldn’t let the food go to waste. As far as Italian goes, the food here is OK. It's not fantastic and has swayed a little more to Australian tastes than keeping a traditional Italian fare. The portions are enormous! And the vale in this respect is good.

The staff are very friendly and obliging. Corkage is free of charge and the restaurant is unlicensed.

The kitchen location is extremely poor, being open to the restaurant, the noise and fluorescent lighting is very much an atmosphere killer. The restaurant would be vastly improved if this was addressed.

Out of date and overpriced. If you want to go back in time to Leichhardt in the 1990s then this place is for you. Very expensive for very basic food. Had the gnocchi at another Mudgee restaurant the night before for the same price and the difference was night and day in terms of flavors, presentation, and quality. $27.50 for three bland arancini balls with no accompaniment was a joke.
