Red Heifer — Restaurant in Mudgee

We stoped one night in Mudgee and looked to see where my husband and I can have a nice juicy steak. It was on a Tuesday afternoon around 5:30 or so. Pictures on the website are inviting, showing the raw meat which looked nice. We ordered 300gr rump stake cooked medium and one medium to well. The meat was very small dry and unpleasant to eat. Both steaks were very very well done. We were hungry coming from Sydney so we had to eat. On top of that I chose the coleslaw with red cabbage but so so bitter. My family and I are regular visitors to Mudgee and have always put this restaurant (steak house) on the must visit dining experience due to the quality of the meat. The last two times now it has been a terrible experience. The meat has been of a much lesser standard even when ordering a scotch fillet and 500gram sirloin it was tough and not worth finishing. I was there on a very busy Saturday night in a group of 19 and 1 meal of the 19 was missed however the response and reaction to the issue should be a teaching moment for many other restaurants/pubs.
