Oriental Pearl Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Mulwala

Made a reservation for Sunday 2nd November (Melbourne Cup long weekend) for 6.00pm.

We knew that it would be very busy, however we had to wait until 7.00pm to be served. A lovely young lady asked about drinks almost immediately, however the food was a long way away.

That same waitress also took our order, even though she ''offcially'' was only meant to take drink orders only.

There was clearly not enough staff either in the kitchen and on the floor.

The table was also quite small for four people which was also disappointing, we are to be moved and they were happy to do this, only to be told some 20mins later that the table was booked and we had to move again.

Fortunately most of the food was ok, other than the prawns dish that had quite a lot of onions.

We all understood that it was the long weekend and clearly they were going to be very busy, that's why we booked at 6.00pm as the restaurant was no where near capacity at this stage. Infact there were only a few other tables.

Very disappointed and won't be returning.

After the new owner had taken over, we had dinner here a few times, and every time has driven us slightly away. Not to mention the service, the recipes of our fav dishes had changed a bit, and they didn't taste as good as in the past. It was fine but we were just disappointed as they didn't taste as expected. However, this time was quite deterring since all three dishes were too salty. Fried rice and the beef were overpowered with a taste of soy sauce. We needed to drink a lot to dilute the after taste. We found the quality and taste was quite unstable. We don't wanna give up on this restaurant as it used to be our fav Chinese in town, but after this time it may take us a while to get over the disappointment. Just a bit sad to take them off our...

Firstly I apologise that I haven't done this sooner. Hubby & I have been enjoying your food for just over 6 years now. I've eaten in some of the most well known Chinese restaurants in Melb, your food is better! We bring all our family who come to visit, including last night with my elderly dad. We've had our 2 daughters there, with hubbies & grandchildren & when they are here they only want to eat in your restaurant. From the moment you step in you are made to feel so welcome.
