THE ALLEY CHAR GRILLED KEBABS — Restaurant in Murwillumbah

I ordered a chicken and a lamb kebab. Received 2 lamb. Forgivable, they were quite busy.

The lamb kebabs were awful. The meat was chewy to the point of being inedible. We both picked it out and gave it to the dogs.

When I complained to them, they replied that they couldn’t control the quality of meat from their supplier. They offered to give us a free kebab with our next order. I responded:

“So whilst I appreciate being offered 1 free kebab with my next purchase, 2 would have been better with no purchase required.

You can probably guess that I won’t be coming back to get another kebab. You have told me your supplier has no quality control, nor do you. I won’t risk that again.”

If you don’t check the quality of the meat from your supplier and cook and serve it anyway, then you need a better quality control process.

Not only was the meat chewy to the point of being inedible, there was bone and gristle present. If you see that and cook and serve it anyway, again you need a better quality control process.

The lamb wasn’t flavoured, merely cooked. You can get away with cheaper cuts of meat by marinating it, or slow cooking it. Or both. But you can’t just cook and serve cheap meat and expect it not to be chewy. I’m not saying you bought cheap meat, but that was the way it presented.

You can probably guess that I won’t be going back to get another kebab.

This is a very friendly venue with very fresh meals. It is majorly a kebab takeaway style restaurant that loves 'live' music and creating a easy-going relaxed atmosphere.
