The Burger Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Murwillumbah

Second time we’ve had takeaway from here and unfortunately it has been extremely sub-par on both occasions.. perhaps I’m just unlucky but here’s my experiences. First time the vegie pattie in the burger was still cold to the point of it being almost icy in the centre. Thought, ‘that’s ok, these things happen’. Last night on the second attempt it wasn’t a very good experience.. waited an hour for the food.. fries missing.. waited another ten minutes (and no, it wasn’t busy, they just had 1 cook). Got home and when my 4 year old tasted the kids nacho’s he screamed at how spicy it was. I don’t know what the salsa or chilli sauce is they use but it was way too spicy for a kids meal. Went in this morning to explain my experience and return the uneaten meal, they clearly didn’t give a rats rear. Felt uncomfortable complaining because very rarely do I but the response indicated it’s clearly not the first complaint they’ve had as she was unapologetic and rude to say the least. Deadset worst experience I’ve ever had in a food placed setting. Called up to get takeaway, had to change order as they were out of a lot of main ingredients, was told there would be a 30/45 minute wait. Fair enough, it’s Sunday night and dinner time so I’m sure they’re very busy. I get there and it’s dead empty, okay maybe they’re just short staffed. I ask for my order and the young man at the front puts my order through the till. I pay for my items and then in the next breath the young man tells me that they’re out of a certain item I wanted and asked if I would like a $3 can of soft drink as replacement. If he knew the shop was out of something why did he then ask me to pay for it? Only to then say he could not supply what I paid for? The food definitely was not worth the wait and I will never go back here again. Hopefully other people have had a better experience than I did because that was a joke. The menu is limited. But limited in a good way. A small menu of burger bar staples all done amazingly well. The burgersmith knows his craft. The burgers are constructed well. There is a lot of extra detail that shows that this artist cares. For example, the pineapple is fried to reduce the crunch and increase sweetness. The aioli is hand made. Hell, the napkins are even high quality. And this is a must because the meat used is moist and this burger will run. As all good burgers should. While we were there, several locals, obviously regulars came in for a feed. In a town with ten or more places to get a burger, this is high praise indeed.
