I rarely give bad reviews but this was one of the worst accommodation experiences I have had. First there is no lift so accommodation, which is all on the upper floor, requires bags to be carried up stairs. The hotel has been recently renovated so was clean and new. They were not set up for NSW accommodation vouchers. There were no electrical outlets in the bedrooms. Rooms were small with a bed, a cupboard and an attached mini-kitchen/bathroom/toilet. However, we discovered that the bathroom/toilet in every room had no door! People in the shower could be seen from outside in the hallway when the door was opened (the shower itself was actually very good with lots of hot water and pressure). People in the toilet could be seen and heard in the mini-kitchen. We were given Room 22, only 1 m away from a bank of very loud air conditioners that switched on and off all night every 4 minutes. The smoke alarm in the ceiling had a green laser light bright enough to light up the room all night and directed straight into your eyes while in bed. At least we did not need a night light. After hours (10 pm?) the main doors are shut and entry is by stairs and outer doors. These were used constantly by other guests, and one entry door near our room made a noise like a gun shot every time it was closed throughout the night. Patrons gathered in the car park and smoking area until late in the night making loud noise which could be easily heard in the upstairs bedrooms. While there is central air conditioning, there are no in-room controls so if the air is too hot (it was) or cold, your only option is to leave the room door open. This is the worst $150 I have ever spent at an Australian accommodation. Avoid...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis hotel is pretty to look at and extremely clean. It gets a bad rating from me as felt unwelcome from the time we got there and tried to book in for our 3 nights. We arrived at 1.38pm on the Friday 24 June and were told to buy a drink or go away and come back at 2pm. And it just kept going down hill from there. The place was extremely noisey till around 2am was so hot in our room that had ceiling fan on from the time we got there and had trouble sleeping with no covers alright from the heat. We rang reception 5 times in the morning left 3 messages no ring back. We decided to leave the next morning and waited for someone to call us back till almost 10.30. Before i called again. The owner said they would refund us the 2 nights we didnt stay but they donot return our emails. Even though this place is newly renovated it lacks basics like power pionts beside bed for charging or lamps. No power points in bathroom or any kind of shelving for belongings or hooks for anything. There is 1 power point in kitchenette for use. The bathroom has no doors on it and doesnāt even have a toilet brush. There is no parking for guests not even a place to park while you check in or to get your belongings out of car to carry up the stairs. When we booked direct with hotel there site asks if anything they can do for you so i put its hubs birthday so if they should arrange a ballon and add to bill would be awesome but they didnt even bother to tell me a yes or no, so I shoulda known from that⦠we were extremely disappointed all round with this hotelā¦. Sorry for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreExcellent refurbished rooms and wonderful bathrooms that are well above what you would expect at a pub. Attentive staff, 18 tap beers/ciders/drinks, good tv coverage, live music often, looks like a great Aussie pub with the renovations that have been done. If you know and understand the challenges of running pubs you are going to love this one and the enthusiastic team led by a talented manager whose style permeates the venue. Did I mention the food? There is a bit of quirkiness about this menu and every time you try a dish you find out the quirky works. I found the 200g rump with chimichurri and bravas potatoes outstanding. I love how the chef backs the taste of the food and serves the steak covered with chimichurri rather than on the side. Outstanding also was the Roast of the Day, Pork Belly, a wonderful apple sauce, sweet potato mash and broccolini. For something different try the boneless lamb shank pasta. Yum. Chef, the more minted peas and parmesan on that dish the better! Prices are as you find at a Aussie pub. Is it all perfect? Na, it was once a pub. Keep your expectations at pub level and then your going to get a pleasant surprise as this establishment is now a premier restaurant and beverage hotel. Thanks for the comfortable stay and the daily booking requirements. Highly...
