I can’t speak highly enough of the quality and freshness of the seafood on offer. We have already been twice whilst on holidays because we couldn’t get enough. The first day for lunch we sampled the local school prawns from Tuggerah Lakes (they mention the provenance- how good is that?!), they were a little small but so sweet and salty and moreish. The large Sydney rock oysters were incredible! So creamy, minerally and delectable without a hint of aftertaste. To top off the most decadent lunch ever we had a cooked mud crab. It was the freshest, tastiest crab ever - the fleshy claw meat easily came away from the shell without the help of a cracker and it was so sweet and tasty with the perfect amount of saltiness. For dinner that night we took home two Bream. The fish cleaning service was the best I have ever experienced. Not a scale to be seen when we got them home. They were obviously super fresh - clear eyes, firm flesh, zero fishiness. They cooked up beautifully. The next day required another visit, the school prawns were from Stockton Bight this time. A little bigger and slightly less salty than the day before and so sweet and fresh tasting. More oysters - because holidays - and they were just as good as the day before. Swordfish fillets for dinner this time. Again so fresh, no hint of the brown meat that you sometimes find on swordfish. They were so tender and juicy.. STAY AWAY unless you want food poisoning. We were resigned to the fact after multiple visits that the prawns were terrible however the fish was usually of some quality. We received a tuna fillet in which was clearly off and had a pungent odour. The salmon seemed okay as did the oysters and Balmain bugs. Flavour was bland and we decided not to purchase from here again.

Then came the explosive toilet visits for my wife, daughter and myself. I will not paint more or a picture as we did that clearly in the bowl.

I Was going to call to advise that the tuna we were provided was cleary off, however decided to read reviews on here first. Upon completing this process that others had notified employees of their food poisoning and the response could be interpreted as fictitious proved they have no care for customers.

I cannot believe that in a place like this (Nelson Bay) we are unable to get quality fresh seafood. The fish markets in Sydney and even Nowra are like comparing apples and oranges to here.

If you read this review and think this is just another whinger/whiner it is my first ever review. I have had poor meals from other places and have never completed the process.I felt obliged to inform people to question purchasing...

I must say, I'm thoroughly impressed by the quality of service and the freshness of their food. This establishment exceeded my expectations in every way and left me with a positive and memorable experience.

The selection of seafood is exceptional, with a wide variety of fish, shellfish, and crustaceans available. The quality of the seafood was evident by its fresh appearance. I'm thrilled to have found such a gem of a fishmonger, where the seafood is caught and prepared with care and attention to detail.

What stood out to me the most was the exceptional level of cleanliness and hygiene at the fishmonger. The seafood was beautifully displayed, and the premises were spotless. I felt confident in the quality of the seafood and the care taken to prepare it.

In conclusion, I highly recommend this fishmonger to anyone looking for fresh, high-quality seafood and excellent customer service. I will undoubtedly be returning soon to stock up on more...
