I had the pleasure of dining at KG Cafe in Kiama and I must say, it was an absolutely amazing experience. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was inviting and welcoming, and the aromas coming from the kitchen were absolutely mouth-watering.
As a lover of traditional South African cuisine, I was thrilled to see the extensive menu featuring dishes from Cape Malay cuisine to Durban inspired curries. It was a tough decision to make, but I finally settled on the Cape Malay Bobotie, a classic South African dish consisting of spiced minced meat with a creamy custard topping, served with rice and sambals.
The dish was absolutely exquisite. The spices were perfectly balanced. The sambals were a perfect complement to the dish, adding a refreshing element to the rich flavors of the Bobotie.
The service was also top-notch, with the staff being friendly and attentive throughout the meal. The ambiance of the restaurant was also lovely, with tasteful decor and a cozy atmosphere that made the meal even more enjoyable.
Overall, I would highly recommend KG Cafe to anyone looking for an authentic South African dining experience in Kiama. The delicious food, top-notch service, and inviting atmosphere make this restaurant a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the flavors of South African cuisine. I can't wait to go back and try more dishes from their...

Read moreService and Atmosphere were excellent, had a lovely time, especially with I assume the owner who spoke about the times he visited South Africa and how much he loves it.
My partner and I had ordered the Bobotie and Vetkoek and mince as our lunch date with a Lime Milkshake, iced dirty chai and Mieliepap to share. The drinks were fantastic, the Lime milkshake took me back to my time in South Africa at the Spur restaurant. However the Vetkoek part of my meal may require some more fine tuning with the preparation mainly the kneading to yield a better product as it was very tough to eat and harder so to enjoy. However that was the only weak part of the meal, the mince was fantastic and my partner loved the bobotie however she wished there was more of it.
To finish we purchased some koeksisters and milk tart to go and enjoyed them on the ride home. The milktart had a lovely thick base and tasted just like home, and the koeksisters did not dissappoint.
All in all the restaurant was lovely and I would definitely eat there again. However will most probably try their Gatsby next time as it looked delicious when another...
