We had heard great things about the restaurant, but from the moment we entered the tight packed entry the guy I can only assume is the owner was quite rude to us. We stood and waited to be seated and I observed him to be rude to other customers. 2 different customers leaving commented to me that they either did not like him or he was a bit rude to them. It turned me off the prospect of eating there, so we left. Tis a pity, as the wife was looking forward to the food. I guess everyone had bad days.
Editited repsonse: I did not review the staff or their efforts, im sure they were all commendable. I did not review the food, im sure it would have been amazing. What i did review was 'your' rudeness. To have 2 other customers comment on your attitude within 10 minutes of being there shows there is an issue. It is interesting that when ever you get a bad review there seems to be a problem with staffing. If you cant handle that 'pressure' and still treat people well, then the problem is with you. There is nothing else to blame but yourself for this review as ive already admitted that every other aspect of the experience would probably have been great!. As a side note, you need to review how you treat your staff if you have an open kitchen where we...
Read moreIt's a cute little restaurant in long jetty which seems to be busy most nights. We went and had dinner there as being Italian I got a little excited at the thought of having a local pasta bar in walking distance from home. Unfortunately, it didn't deliver. We were hoping for negronis...they don't make The bruschetta was terrible. The bread was like hard white cardboard with no oil. The tomatoes were not truss or Roma. Then it had the most fowel oil over it that tastes like burnt salt. So over powering. Unfortunately this oil finds it's way in to the pasta dishes aswell because although our actual pasta was made and cooked perfect, the flavour was over taken by super salty and bitter olive oil. We couldn't finish our pastas. I let the waitress know it wasn't great. Nothing more said. Unfortunately we won't go back. Also, there is a wonderful selection of Italian musical artists that could be used in the restaurant rather then the non stop repetitive noise that was...
Read moreI am a local, who for some reason, hasn't visited this little restaurant. 'That was my mistake' as Split Enz sung! The food is fantastic and had a quality and taste of home-cooking and freshness i wasn't expecting from this end of the coast. Special applause for the waiting staff (young Italian girls) who, despite their limited English, were great fun and gave me a chance to be playful with my single word Italian vocab. I took the leftovers home and my teenage daughter remarked that the spaghetti marinara was the best she had ever eaten, I agree. The meals are fairly priced given the quality and my only tiny criticism is the music feels like it is on a loop. Wouldn't take much to create an interesting mix of Italianess. All the staff were engaging and it felt like we would be welcome again. The first time but not the last time....
