Terrible service! Well below average food. The woman I can only assume was the manager/franchisee was very rude, yelling at a young staff member for putting too much cheese on a burrito (there was barely any cheese on it) and making her take that cheese off and put it back in the cheese container in front of all of the customers. On top of that the service was slow, they were out of all meat options except for chicken and pork (it was only early afternoon) and they overcharge for any added options. I barely got any cheese or meat, my burrito bowl was mostly just rice and a scattering of beans. The food was already overpriced, the stingy serves only made the price seem worse. And the final kicker, when I asked the server (same lady I assume was the manager/franchisee) if I could please have a sachet of salt she told me "no, we already salt the food when we cook it. You should go and try and get some from KFC" to which I responded "no, I bought nothing from there, I should be able to get a salt sachet from the place I purchased my food!" I never got my salt sachet. The food to my taste was way undersalted and underseasoned and as the customer I should be able to add more salt if my taste requires, and should be offered and provided that by the seller of the food. I can honestly say I will never frequent this establishment again. Today was my second time going there and second bad experience with them. I won't make that same mistake...

Every time I visit mad mex I ask to roll my own burrito which over the years has never been an issue. Twice at Tweed City I’ve been told no because this is against health and safety regulation. It’s not but I will point out what is. No white chopping board for food prep, it is done on the stainless steel bench. Not one person wearing hair nets, hats or making any attempt to wear a hairstyle that is kept hair. Messy bun, unkempt hair. Not okay. Cross contamination. Cheese in sour cream, pinto beans in black beans. The caking of ingredients and no attempt to keep the baines clean Multiple people on the line, one burrito being passed through 3 different people. Salsa being handed over without a lid for the combo To top it off, my husband and I got food poisoning.
If you are going to prevent customers from simply rolling their own burrito due to “health and safety” please take caution in all areas in your kitchen.

Read moreTerrible vegetarian tacos. I ordered vegetarian tacos, the amount of vegan mince (Mexicali mince) put on each taco was no more than a tablespoon with way too much liquid. It was lunchtime and the container with the Mexicali mince was almost empty. The tacos looked NOTHING like the picture in their advertising which shows a very generous serving of Mexicali mince. When I asked the staff member if that was all the mince they were putting on, they rudely replied yes, I nearly cancelled my order at that point. The tacos were shuffled along, and more ingredients slopped on with way too much lettuce. When trying to eat the tacos liquid was dripping everywhere, I had to get extra serviettes.
The counter where the food was being prepared was dirty, one staff member wearing gloves used the cash register to help another staff member and didn't change their gloves when going back to prepare food. The staff were abrupt & clearly didn't want to be there. One positive was the guacamole, it was a generous serve and only $1...
