We found this place when they were in Terrigal and was so disappointed when they moved but we have followed them to Toukley and it is totally worth the drive (from Umina). As a transplanted American I am very picky when it comes to Mexican but they do not disappoint. Totally recommend Update: We have been a Mexicoast fan since they were in Terrigal. The staff are always fantastic and the food, while not exactly what I’m used to being from the States, has always been delicious. However, yesterday we drove up from the peninsula to fulfill our Mexican cravings only to find that the beef had been changed, we cannot order the charred corn for take away, and normally they don’t offer the chimichanga for takeaway either. I am a huge fan of the old way the beef was cooked, last night It was just ok. The rice was undercooked and crunchy it totally turned me off. As I stated earlier the staff are always fantastic and last night was no different, they allowed us to order the chimichangas for takeaway, they said they don’t offer it because it can get soggy. Well I love the chimichanga and I ordered one, drove all the way home and only a little bit on the bottom was soggy and it didn’t matter it was still delicious. The charred corn i was refused, they said it takes too long to cook and making it is a whole process, but if I sit at a table and order it then I can have it. This makes absolutely no sense!!! I was willing to wait the extra time but the chef still refused. Which left me wondering what would he have done if i actually ate in the restaurant and ordered it and asked for a box to take it home. My experience last night has made me second guess my recommending Mexicoast and my own future patronage. Please let me reiterate this, the staff was still fantastic.

What an absolutely amazing experience we had with these amazing people tonight! The staff were all so wonderful, super friendly! The food was amazing! The staff know the food & drinks & have great suggestions! Best chicken tacos I’ve ever had! Couldn’t recommend you guys enough! The atmosphere was amazing! People all around looked like they just enjoyed the experience there! The owner came up to us and chatted and he was such a nice person! You can genuinely see he enjoys what he does and is very good with people! Wasn’t just us he spoke to either you could tell he was just a friendly person who enjoyed making people feel happy! I really loved how great everyone worked together as a team it was great to see! We got 4 cocktails 3 entrees 2 mains & desert and they were all amazing, come out super quick! They were super busy & we had come early and they were so welcoming & seated us straight away, Couldn’t fault you guys tonight! Thanks again for such an amazing experience & making my husband and i’s anniversary dinner even more special! We will definitely be back

I can't wait to return. The waitstaff were happy. The place was buzzing at 5:30 pm! And every dish was delicious. A little of the right seasoning goes a long way. EDIT: Ok, fast forward a month, and four of us returned to experience High T-Quila. Check out the photos! A three tiered savoury delight, followed by dessert. The savoury contained charred corn, jalapeno poppers, chicken wings in barbecue sauce, chicken chimichanga, and pulled beef tostadas. The dessert tier was made up of churros and crumbed ice cream balls. Of course, there were sauces that complemented beautifully. The food was accompanied by a delicious sangria and equally mouth-watering margaritas. One of our party preferred to be alcohol free. This was not a problem. She enjoyed her mocktails.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mexicoast, and I must say it was an incredible experience from start to finish. From the moment I stepped foot into the restaurant, I was greeted with warm smiles and a vibrant atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable evening.

The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the exquisite food. The prawn tacos were simply divine! The combination of succulent prawns and flavorful toppings created a burst of flavors that left me craving for more. Each bite was a true delight that transported me to the vibrant streets of Mexico.

But it wasn't just the food that impressed me; it was the exceptional service that truly stood out. Justin, the knowledgeable and passionate barman, went above and beyond to enhance my experience. He took the time to educate me about the impressive tequila and mezcal collection, offering valuable insights and recommendations. His personal touch of providing a cinnamon-covered orange to accompany each sip of tequila was a delightful surprise that elevated the entire drinking experience.

I must also mention Jemma, our wonderful waitress, who made our evening even more enjoyable. She was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about ensuring our dining experience was flawless. Jemma checked in with us regularly, offering recommendations and engaging in delightful conversations. Her warm demeanor and professionalism truly added an extra sparkle to the evening.

To conclude this culinary adventure, I decided to venture into uncharted territory and ordered the chili chocolate ice cream with churros. It was a brave choice, as I had never tried this combination before, but I'm so glad I did! The fusion of spicy chili and rich chocolate, paired with the crispy churros, was a unique and delightful taste sensation that left a lasting impression. It was the perfect sweet finale to a remarkable meal.

Mexicoast is more than just a restaurant; it's an immersive experience that transports you to the heart of Mexico. The combination of delectable food, expertly crafted cocktails, and the attentive and friendly staff creates an atmosphere of warmth and authenticity. Whether you're a lover of Mexican cuisine or looking to explore new flavors, Mexicoast is the place to be.

I can't recommend Mexicoast enough. The prawn tacos, the tequila experience curated by Justin, and the outstanding service by Jemma were all highlights of my visit. If you're searching for an unforgettable culinary journey that will transport your taste buds to the vibrant streets of Mexico, look no further than Mexicoast.

Thank you, Mexicoast, for an extraordinary evening. I will certainly be returning to indulge in more of your delightful dishes and soak up the...

Mexicana Cantina in Toukley is a vibrant and authentic Mexican dining spot that perfectly captures the lively spirit of Baja Mexico and Southern USA cantinas. From the moment you step inside, the colourful Day of the Dead artwork, tiled bar, and neon signs create a warm, festive atmosphere that’s perfect for a casual night out or a fun gathering with friends.

The menu is a delicious celebration of bold Mexican flavours, featuring standout dishes like chipotle mayo prawns with bacon tacos, smoky BBQ chicken wings, and a mouthwatering battered fish burrito with pineapple and guacamole. There’s something for everyone, including generous gluten-free options, and the staff are always happy to help with dietary needs to ensure a safe and enjoyable meal.

The cocktails deserve a special mention—expertly crafted Margaritas and other tequila-based drinks complement the food beautifully and add to the overall lively vibe of the cantina. The service is friendly and attentive, making you feel welcome whether it’s your first visit or you’re a regular.

Overall, Mexicana Cantina is a true gem on the Central Coast, offering authentic flavours, great drinks, and a fun atmosphere that keeps locals coming back. If you’re in Toukley and craving genuine Mexican cuisine with a creative twist, this is the...
