The Ary Toukley — Restaurant in New South Wales

Two visits in a row to the restaurant and both experiences were terrible. A little while ago we attended the restaurant as a group of four. On that occasion two main meals came out together and the other two mains about half an hour later and those were pizzas and a caesar salad both of which were not very nice and as such were not fully eaten. On that experience we vowed we would not return. Tonight against better judgement we did return. The person taking orders at the restaurant appeared to not like her job and managing a smile was seemingly impossible. There did not have items that were on the menu which is acceptable as things can and do sell out. Frustrating though, is when you don’t get what you order. I ordered a rump steak medium but what I received was not a rump, it was thin with the life beaten out if it and cooked to what one could expect from a cremation and not cooked to medium. It was a great impersonation of the sole of a leather sandal. For the sake of not eating a meal by myself half an hour after our other table guests, I did not reorder another meal as I didn’t want to be sitting there eating when all others at the table had received and eating their meals. I literally took one cut of meat and attempted to eat it but it was dry and tuff. On collection of our plates I suggested to your floor staff that I have not received what I ordered and hence I didn’t eat it. The reply was I should have said something and asked for another steak. For reasons as stated above I did not ask for another steak but one would reasonably expect that upon your staff being aware of the error perhaps an offer of refund may have been forthcoming but no. I arrived at the venue excited for a night of music and socialising with friends. I had been there for at least 30 minutes, enjoying the atmosphere, when one of the staff members approached me and explained to me that they had seen me with a drink that I had brought from outside the venue and asked to have it.

I willingly handed over the drink and thought that would be the end of it. However, to my surprise, I was still asked to leave.

I was confused and frustrated. I had not caused any trouble or disrupted the event in any way. I had not snuck in any other drinks or caused any other issues. I felt unfairly treated and disrespected by the staff at the venue.

I understand that rules are rules, but I believe that the situation could have been handled with more consideration and understanding. Asking me to leave after I had already been there for some time seemed unnecessary and harsh.

It is not illegal to have a drink from outside a venue, but I respect the policies that establishments have in place. However, I believe that there should be some level of understanding and leniency in certain situations.

In the future, I hope that the venue can handle similar situations with more tact and consideration for their patrons. Being asked to leave for a minor infraction without any prior warnings or explanations is not a pleasant experience. Let's treat each other with respect and understanding in...

I would give 10 Stars if I could!

We celebrated my partners 50th Birthday with a huge party upstairs. Leigh-Anne (function co-ordinator) was my best friend throughout the planning process - absolutely nothing was too much trouble!

We had 60 Guests in total and absolutely everyone raved about the food! The Beef Ragu Lasagne, Buttermilk Chicken Schnitzel, Roast Pork and all the trimmings were absolutely delicious and all our guests appeared to go back for 2nds and even 3rds!

I was able to decorate the room early in the day and the band were able to bump in and set up early too. The staff were even so kind as to allow us to leave the band | music equipment and decor in the room until the next morning as we chose to stay close by so all could safely have a drink and uber home.

The venue itself is top notch. The room had a huge balcony which was perfect for our guests who smoked as it allowed them to mingle, watch the bands but not negatively impact anyone with second hand smoke. Tables, linen, a dance floor and stage were all included. Rest rooms were squeaky clean with access directly from the room, as was the bar. Drinks were reasonably priced. Wait staff were amazing too.
