I stopped here for a quick breakfast before hitting the road for a long drive after a quick visit to my home town. It was so refreshing to walk into this cafe and immediately feel that instead of getting takeaway I needed to sit for a bit and take in the welcoming and comforting vibe. As soon as I sipped my flat white coffee I knew I'd struck gold! I was hugely boosted by this after a couple of days of receiving undrinkable coffees. It was smooth, tasted fresh, had good body, was well made, and importantly, it was served extra hot as I had ordered. I treated myself to a croissant with jam as the golden flakey presentation in the cabinet drew me in. The first time we tried this place we had ordered meals to go and so didn’t judge them too harshly. But on a second visit we were sorely disappointed. These guys make matcha like they hate it. They handed me a cup of iced milk that had the tiniest hint of green to it. Couldn’t taste anything. My parter ordered an iced tea expecting something pre- brewed. No… it was a tea bag in a cup of iced water. Unless my partner had taken it home and stuck it in the fridge to infuse for 24hrs it was never going to taste like anything either. Under new management the staff are incredibly attentive and friendly, the coffee is smooth and never too hot or burnt, even with my requests for an extra shot. The whole café is modern, beautiful and easy on the eyes and with exciting renovations to add-on to the atmosphere and support live local acts which is always a bonus in my opinion. The food is tasty too with their new breakfast menu and reasonably priced. It’s a great vibe and not stuffy or dated.
