Went there after seeing the 4.3 Star reviews. The service was terrible. The waitress was dumb as a dodo. Went there with my wife and kid at 1:30 PM, ordered Beers, the Non/Veg Tandoori Platter, Goat Biriyani, Peshawari Basn and Mughalai Chicken. The restaurant had three parties including us, the table of 3 ladies finished before we ordered so it was just two tables, the other table was also a party of three and how a waitress can dole such poor service despite a barely filled restaurant is beyond me.
Ordered Goat Biriyani, she flips the menu and asks what Biriyani. The Drinks menu had most of the Beers prices at 7 AUD. Both Corona and Cobra were priced at 7 AUD, I was served a large Cobra bottle which was 10 AUD and she didn’t even bother to mention about it when she took the order. The starters came in quick time, when she served I had to remind her to bring the Beers. She planted two bottles and left, I called her for two glasses. The Corona wasn’t served with a Lime wedge. There were no tissues or napkins at the tables. Yes, she didn’t bother. There were many flies in the restaurant. She didn’t bother to clear the empty bottles or plates during the service, again I had to ask her. A school kid without training would have provided better service.
The food was good largely, 3.5 stars in my view. The Peshawari Naan was too sweet with sugar dumped on it, rest all were good.
The rating is for the bad service, a better waiter or waitress will...
Read moreFantastic Indian food, one of the best anywhere that you'll come across. Sadly, prices have recently gone up extortionately, far higher than I have encountered at any Indian restaurant in Australia. Hate to say that until they drop their prices back to the norm they have lost my family as regular customers.
UPDATE: I admit I was a bit harsh with my above two star review a couple of years back. We have gone back a few more times since and, there's no doubt about it, Grand Pavilion remains the undisputed king of Indian tucker in the area. We (my family) have some great options in the circle of Ettalong, Umina, Woy Woy and West Gosford. We usually go to the others because they are more affordable and each very decent in their own unique ways, a few of which are our other favourites. But whenever we feel like living it large, we splash out and go Grand. And my, can you tell the taste. One of the best, if not THE best Indian food experiences we have had. I totally get how it is hard operating a business in the area. In the five years we've lived here now, we've seen many of our favourite food joints sadly shut up shop, which is sometimes heart breaking. For that matter, I get why Grand Pavilion lifted their prices. I am happy to support them. So yes, if you don't mind splashing out a little more, I can't recommend them enough....
Read moreAt the begin the services was amazing ! My partner and I sat down at our table, outside. We placed our orders and waited for our food. The waiter walked around outside and asked everyone if the shush kebab were their’s, this waiter didn’t even acknowledge my partner or I which did alarm me and we should of left then ! The waiter walked back inside with our entree and another waiter (the waiter that took our order) came straight out and handed us our entree. We quickly finished them as they were amazing!! We were waiting for our mains (THIS IS WERE IT GETS DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE AND HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUES !!!) the waiter placed our order on another guest table !!! As the waiter placed it on there table she walked back in and a few moments later she came running out and gave us the food the other guest had played with. The waiter didn’t apologise or say a thing and acted like everything was fine. She didn’t even say a word and walked back in to the restaurant. This is disgusting customer services considering Covid-19 is still a thing. My partner and I were not treated like equal like the other people eating near us. The food was amazing and I couldn’t default that though that’s why I gave it 2 stars. The services on the...
