DO YOU KNOW THEY CHARGE EXTRA 2 DOLLARS FOR AN EMPTY PLATE TO SHARE?
Yeah I didn't know that neither and was not told until I paid the bill and looked at the receipt. Don't get me wrong I love this place, my number 1 choice of brunch in Newcastle and hence introduced my friends to here too. Awesome food amazing service but this hidden charge got me to think about it all again. I know that we had 4ppl and only ordering 2 plates of food is a bit odd, but it's my choice to get whatever I want right? The girl kindly brought us 2 plates and 4 sets of cutleries so we can share the food, no one told us it's gonna cost us 4 bucks extra for 2 empty plates and 2 sets of cutleries!! Who would expect that?? what other place charge that fee??? also my friend swapped out her pouched egg for scrumble, IT IS STILL 2 EGGS AND WE GOT CHARGED 3 BUCKS EXTRA LIKE WHAT??? I know that inflation is happening right now and making everyone's life a little harder, but CAN YOU AT LEAST TELL US IT'S GONNA COST MORE FOR EXACTLY 2 EGGS THAT'S COOKED DIFFERENTLY?? Honestly didn't know what to do since I've paid my bill already not expecting that extra charge, but now I feel so ripped off. I would happily pay a Sunday surcharge or something if it's indicated, but this feels so rediculous!!! CHECK YOUR BILLS BEFORE YOU...
Read moreVisiting Newcastle for weekend and driving about sightseeing we stumble on Beaumont St - also referred to as “Greek street” as most of the Greek migrants set up homes and established businesses around there including church and cultural centre - now it appears they mostly own the realestate and lease out to the newer migrants There appears to be a vibrant multicultural Community there which makes this street interesting, hearing all the different languages and restaurants is great Anyway stopped at The Village as we saw diners having Greek coffee - so that was the drawcard. Well have to say they served it in the “Briki” special shaped vessel that this type of coffee is made and made perfectly it was - coffee cream on top - that takes some technique. Also ordered a slice of vegan pistachio cake / brownie Sipped our coffee slowly and enjoyed the street action Service was excellent, friendly staff Giving great attention to customers A Greek festival was on in the street the following day with lots of cultural activities, food, music, dancing and wine. Unfortunately we were leaving that morning otherwise would have loved to attend Definitely worthy of a stroll down Beaumont Street when...

I was told to move tables as I was taking up 4 seats and it was their “busy period” as there were only going to be 2-3 people and my dog. I had sat there so we were in the shade. I moved to another table that had apparently “not been sanitised ” maybe if all 5 staff were not talking inside it would have been? Still not a single please. Then was accused of not checking in, as I hadn’t had a chance to even sit down yet. I am all for following all covid rules and complying but please, thank you and a smile never went astray. When I tried to discuss the concerns with the owner he stated “his girls are good” and implied I was being difficult. We left. As we walked back after having. beautiful meal at son of a gun which was at capacity, they were still empty....
