Excellence in Indian cuisine, in my opinion equates with achieving a perfect balance of flavors, it's akin the harmony in a well-tuned orchestra, where no single sound overwhelms the others. This was precisely what I experienced at "Kings XI" in Newcastle, a truly delightful culinary experience.
My enthusiasm for food in genral and cooking compensates for lack of training or expertise in gourmet food. For me, cooking a dish is like writing a poem; and it's the closest I, an average joe with zero artistic skills, ever comes to an artistic expression.
During a recent long weekend, my family and friends enjoyed a getaway to the Nelson Bay/Newcastle area. In the evening based on a friend's recommendation we decided to go to "Kings XI" restaurant in "NewCastle"
From the menu we narrowed down on "chicken saag," "kadahi chicken," and "Patiala Goat," from the non-veg section, and in the veg we had "Handi Paneer", "Dal Makhani" and "Bhindi Do Pyaza" along with an assortment of Nans, Kulchas and Rotis
The chicken saag was a revelation, its smoky depth and garlic-infused flavor perfectly complementing the tender meat, making it a dish to rave about. The kadahi chicken was brilliant one of the best I've had in this country. The "Patiala Goat", quite notable for its tangy zest, and the indulgent "bullet nan," a departure from typical naan bread, were both impressive. Dal Makhani was balanced and well-tempered, Handi paneer was not too bad either.
Notably the dish that took us all by surprise was "Bindi Do Pyaza", the chefs take on the dish was quite commendable, this is evident by the fact that it won over even the children in our group. The dining experience was so memorable that it became a topic of conversation over drinks later that evening. The service at the place was amiable, accommodating, efficient and warm. We definitely will visit the...
Read moreFirstly I apologize for this very late post Kings XI. I am a foodie and Imagine me organizing catering for my wedding, I wanted the BEST. So I tried and tested multiple Indian restaurants and by chance ended up at Kings XI even though it wasn't on my list. As I entered and asked the people there, was when this amazing exceptional woman walked towards us "BELLA" she looked after us so well, really well organised and put together a list of things we needed. She was going to India and I remember her mentioning "let me know if you need anything" who would say that to a random customer. We were invited for tasting for 4 persons and I called her to say I have my family from India who would like to join the tasting, without any hesitation she was very welcoming and said Yes. The food was absolutely delicious that day and she was there the whole time with us and spoke to my family and made us feel like home. On the BIG day no questions asked the whole team at Kings XI looked after every single guest of ours and made sure everyone were fed. Bella and Durga were amazing with their customer service talking to guests helping out even though they didn't have too. And to my surprise at the reception the whole cake table was decorated with candy jars, dessert, flowers etc, mind you this was not included as part of the catering service. I felt loved and my family and friends wouldn't stop raving about the TASTY FOOD. I WOULD 100000% recommend this place for just a regular lunch or dinner or catering at a big scale KINGS XI has got you covered. Thanks Guys, my long review showcases how happy you guys made me on...
Read moreI recently dined at Restaurant Kings IX, and I must say that it was an incredibly disappointing experience. The food quality and customer service left a lot to be desired.
Firstly, the chili chicken and palak paneer I ordered were tasteless and lacked any flavor whatsoever. It's unfortunate that the dishes were so poorly prepared, considering they're staples in Indian cuisine. When I requested to replace the chili chicken, their response was even more bewildering. Instead of addressing the issue, they handed me a bowl of chili sauce and suggested I add it myself. This is not only unacceptable but also a clear indication of their lack of concern for customer satisfaction. We also left the palak paneer on the table, Atleast chef can taste it and put his own review.
The level of service was equally disappointing. The staff seemed disinterested and indifferent to our concerns. It was evident that our dissatisfaction was of no concern to them.
It's quite disheartening to have such a subpar experience at a restaurant that claims to provide quality dining. I wouldn't recommend Restaurant Kings IX to anyone seeking a satisfying meal and pleasant dining experience. There are far better options available that value their customers' preferences and provide...
