Raj's Corner — Restaurant in Newcastle-Maitland

I went Dad to buy some dinner for tonight earlier today. I personally would not recommend it based on my experience. The food tasted awful on top of that I got food poisoning from this food and this restaurant. I haven't eaten all day during the day and this was my only male during the day and I've been I haven't eaten the last other days as well I've been off eating so I was really excited and looking forward to it. When I walked in I found it difficult to get someone to serve me it wasn't busy there was no one there people just standing around chatting I literally was trying to people calling out to people I just found it difficult to get some service. When I found a a lady she appeared to ignore me or not want to serve me when she basically we worked there anyway so once I place my order I found her being not rude but like ignoring me kind of things like she didn't really work there but she did anyway I placed my order she took her precious little time and after a long period of time once we came to pay time I already knew beforehand how much my order would have cost but I just play along and said how much is it for my order for the for the subtotal and she she she looked at me like how much do you have like she didn't even tell me beforehand when I asked her Simply and open and honestly she just looked at me like how much do you have kind of feel like show me cash dude she's just standing there giving me unusual books didn't give a damn so anyway I basically pulled out of $50 note and then she charged me $26.60 and I was quite shocked but anyway I gave it to the lady and paid for it or after that I ran away I have found it difficult to get the same lady that serves me back I was speaking to three other people trying to help me no one refuse to help me so that was straight after so that was straight after paying and after an order I just found my experience to be very hassle very stressed because they clearly didn't want to serve customers they definitely ripped me off by a long shot and I know how much it cost beforehand and this lady took my money and we'll take it for granted I also got food poisoning as well so that was definitely guaranteed and I went had I had to go to the doctors basically vomiting and very feeling very sick I basically so based on servers taste of food was so bad and basically getting ripped off financially they this place totally ripped me off Moneywise so my advice to people out there is to make sure they don't rip you off so based on my experience today I'm giving it a 1 you know he just being honest here. I won't be coming back ever again because my experience was so bad it wasn't pleasurable at all so that's just me personally that's just me personally but I then regards to other people I know other people's had really good experiences and I've spoken to people that's had really bad experiences so it's really up to you based on your experience but this is my experience on tonight or today sorry I'm so yeah not recommended I tasted Food Service appalling and financially basically they ripped me off basically I felt like I wasn't getting the best service or customer treatment so yeah they clearly just didn't want to but they were there to work but they show yeah. Ordered takeaway of Plain dosa, Samosa and masala Chai. The Samosa was good. Same as any other samosa that you might find in cafes and stores. The Masala chai was really good. And Dosa is best eaten at restaurant as it can lose its crispness when you order a takeaway. But the taste was good. And the sambhar is probably the best sambhar I've had in Australia. It had a nice strong flavour and wasn't watered down. I'll be cmg back to try the rest of the stuff on the menu. EDIT: Have had to scale back the rating for the place due to poor service. Staff seem to lack clarity on certain things. Proper training of staff would help. Been visiting regularly for takeaways. Came in on 25th Sunday at around 1130am and thought of trying out something new for a change. Ordered 2 large masala chai(the usual), 1 aloo paratha and samosas. Was given 2 small containers of the yoghurt mint chutney along with paratha. Paid $17.1 and left. Enjoyed the paratha. Came back again for dinner. Ordered 2 teas, 2 parathas and masala dosa. Paid for it. Took a seat. Paratha was ready but didn't get the mint chutney. Asked for it and was told it's charged extra. I said I was given along with paratha in the morning but it was just 50 cents so agreed to pay. But then I'm told i need to pay by cash cuz it's small amount for card. If I had known earlier or was asked if I wanted to buy it I would have gladly paid n taken it. I don't carry cash. My experience in the morning made me think it comes with the paratha. Since I didn't have cash I couldn't get the chutney n had to have it plain. Wasn't the same. After eating half I realised one of my mates was nearby and borrowed a dollar so I could buy that. Overall an unpleasant experience. Check your cameras. The person in the morning gave 2 without charging. Then the person in the evening says have to pay cash only. It's just 50 cents mate. Either let me pay by card or ask staff to enquire in advance if we need it. If we don't order a gravy then it means we are having the paratha by itself. I normally appreciate everyone’s job and their service but what a big disappointed on Sunday evening at Hamilton location. I went to Raj’s corner to get some food. Bought a 3 meal combo in large for around 13 dollar. I wanted naan instead of rice but was told theres extra charge for naan then I said will get naans separately so will take 3 meal combo only for takeaway. The staff was putting all 3 different meal in one single container without divider and all of them were gravy ones. I was shocked when she put the lamb corma (gravy) and fish curry also in gravy side by side in the container without divider and wanted to put the third chicken tikka masala also gravy on top of that. I was utterly surprised, i asked if she can put the third curry atleast on a seperate container but she gave me a straight no! I said I am not asking for more quantity but just that my combo meal was for takeaway and all 3 dishes were literally curries. I dont know what is the big issue in accomodating a customers request, i would have paid extra for that container if needed be but this is one of the worst experience i have ever faced. I ended up not getting that last dish which would be stuffed on the same container. So, i ended up wasting my 25$ for a meal that is a mix of fish and lamb and ruined my dinner. I dont think this is the level of Raj corner and staffs must have atleast some morale when cx is requesting something so small which is so logical. if Raj’s corner cannot have a take away container suitable for combo meals than pls let the customer know atleast when they request for take away meal and not put all curries in one container so by the time we reach home, the dish mixes and becomes one and there is no point in buying a combo meal.
