Sa-Lung Thai Cafe — Restaurant in North Perth

Had a terrible experience unfortunately. We went for a casual dinner on a Saturday night and found Sa Lung along the Fitzgerald strip. Not too busy. We decided what we wanted and then I went to order at the counter. The male wait person was busy with take away orders and took a while to even acknowledge my waiting. Didn't look interested and didn't want to be there. I ordered the dishes pointing to each one on the menu. Sat down and entrees came out fairly quickly. One was the chicken wings for $8.90. It was two tiny wingettes which looked like just the small drumette cut with 5 wing tips. I queried if this correct and was told that is one serve by the male wait person. I said Ok then and went and sat down. Then the lady who was in the kitchen came over and explained why it was so small etc and was lovely about things, but the explanations such as the butcher cut it that way, paying for labour and also how the chickens are fed aren't explanations that patrons should be worried about. She offered to make another serve, bit reiterated they "don't normally do this". Then our main came out and one of the noodle dishes was wrong. I queried why there was no egg on the dish apart from all the other lovely looking bits and pieces on the menu and the lady rightly explained that it doesn't come that way, because this dish was completely different to the one I ordered. Cue the male wait person and he said that I had ordered some thing else and that I was wrong. Frustrated by this I acknowledge it doesn't matter then and we'll just have the dish anyway because I couldn't be bothered anymore with this person. Then he says, "you ordered "A" I am not lying" accusingly to me! .....not sure what motivation I would have to order something and lie about things, the dish we wanted looked beautiful on the menu and I'm disappointed I didn't get to try it. The lady who was working the kitchen was nice about things. The male wait person was disinterested, dismissive and a liar and doubled down after making a mistake. Unfortunately I won't be back because of this experience with the male wait person, I say that because the other dishes were nice and the rest of the menu looks...

Sa-lung have a great range of vegan options on their menu, including this new Vegan Thai Platter! They make some of the best vegan Thai food in Perth here, and I was told that around 50 per cent of their orders are for vegan food - which is testament to just how good it is! 👏🏻 This platter is a great way to try a variety of their vegan dishes, and it is such good value! For $29 you get a selection of their vegan entrees (including crispy tofu, vegetable curry puffs, chive cakes and vegetable spring rolls) as well as a decent serving of both their vegan Green Curry and Pad Thai. I only got about half way through the platter, so you might like to share (and perhaps get a side of rice for the curry), or otherwise have a platter to yourself and take home the leftovers! The food here is very authentic and you can tell it is made with so much love - every dish was packed full of flavour, the presentation was beautiful and the service is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Some of the other vegan options on their menu include Red Curry, Pad See Eew, Super Tom Yum Noodle Soup, Fried Rice...

Just left this restaurant and it was a very bad experience. First off all the table are so sticky. Secondly, my Thai tea came with a straw with some redness on the top (like someone had a sip already). Third point, we ordered a Satai chicken and the chicken was not cooked, I stupidly (by trust) ate one stick without noticing it when my partner noticed it... Fourth point, I personally ordered a "boat..." with beef and egg noddles, and the noddle looks like not been defrost properly. I'm sorry for the waitress which has to say sorry because the chef is not brave enough to it him/herself... But to finish up, which convince me to leave this long review... because our chicken was not cooked properly we had a new dish but we're not hungry anymore and decided to take it away, so when asking for a take away box, they even charge me for it... How dear... You failed in the whole points and we will basically never come back...
