A full house on a Wednesday night & woefully under staffed made for a sub par experience.
To begin with the sensor glass sliding door entry malfunction (?) left us wondering how to enter. It took a moment, we manually opened & then closed the glass panels only to be left standing inside the doorway, unacknowledged, for almost 5 minutes as the 2 waitstaff scurried about doing their best. Seating was cramped in the over filled restaurant (especially in terms of C19 recommendations). Patrons had difficulty entering & leaving seats without disturbing others who were seated. After our group of 4 were seated we were left for up to 10 minutes, no water for the table, no wine glasses to self serve our byo. No communication or eye contact from staff. The couple who entered and sat by us waited even longer without any contact from staff. They had no glassware at all until I reached an empty table behind me to supply them with 2 clean water glasses. One of my group approached the kitchen to request wine glasses for 4, 1 glass was delivered without explanation. Finally, an out of breath, waitress asked if we had ordered yet. In hindsight we probably should have selected pizza from the menu because they looked very appetising when served to others. However, we ordered entrees of calamari with potato & onion, cheese 'fondue' (really just grilled provelone cheese) with bread. The latter was fine but the former was over cooked to hardness & sat in an oily puddle. For mains, 3 of us ordered the veal scalopini marsala which was strangely bland in flavour but still tender and came with a standard side salad (garnish). The last of our group ordered a pasta dish (can't recall the sauce) which she found underwhelming in flavour but copious in portion size. We didn't bother with coffee or desserts and departed unsatisfied on this occasion. Upon asking, as we paid the bill, we were informed that the staffing problem was common here so, be warned! Update: slightly aggressive response to this review from Zuccaro. Lots of (possibly valid) excuses for the service problems, unwilling to acknowledge any shortcomings of food quality on our particular night. I followed Zuccaro owners suggestion & read their other reviews. Most were very good (especially regarding the pizza they serve), so I guess they just had a bad night folks, although I read another recent review (Bec) had a similar experience. 🤷♀️ Good luck Zuccaro🌻, I genuinely wish...
Read moreAvoid this restaurant!!!!!!! Received absolute shocking service from our first time at this place on a Wednesday night out with my parents. On multiple occasions we had to flag down the uninterested male waiter who was brazenly trying to ignore and avoid serving customers by pretending to wipe glasses. On top of this we had to retrieve our own bottled water from the fridge, as did many other customers since this place had NO hospitality. Once the moody waiter finally came up to us he didn't know what he was doing which led us to wait more than an hour for a pizza and two pastas. We went up to the owner to inquire about our order and she said it was in the process of being made now, which clearly was a lie. After waiting a further 15-20 minutes we decided to leave because it was a ridiculously long wait for 3 dishes. In the process of doing this, the owner came running up to us because she didn't want her fellow customers seeing us leave. We politely told her we were leaving because we were hungry and that it was taking far too long. In addition to this, we told her that a couple who had just arrived got served within 15 minutes of sitting down, however she continued to disregard and gaslight us by saying the couple had been waiting a while and ONLY ordered a pizza, when in actual fact we knew the exact time they arrived, and pointed out a pizza AND a pasta on their table. She started to raise her voice, become extremely rude and made spiteful comments under her breath...GROW UP!!! Hopefully customers saw your despicable behaviour as an owner and wont be back because we certainly will not. Apologise and take some responsibility instead of passing blame, you're an owner aren't you??? Also, FYI clearly you're understaffed so instead of having fake 10-15 minute conversations with your customers, how about you help your...
Read moreMy partner and I went to Zuccaro Trattoria PIZZA -BAR for dinner tonight. Owned by a wife an dhusband team, they have only been open less than a year in the middle of the North Perth shopping strip, opposite the Rosemount Hotel.
The welcoming service was very warm and friendly, by one of the owners. We started with the Melanzane Parmigiana and Focaccia Bruschetta. I'm not a fan of Eggplant, however I really enjoyed the Pamigiana, maybe because of the amount of tomato sauce and cheese.
The Focaccia Bruschetta was also good, the base being a very tasty and chewy companion to the chiloy tomato with balsamic drizzle.
The main event was their Pizza Quattro Formaggi, which here is made from gorgonzola cheese, taleggio cheese smoked scamorza, mozzarella & basil.
This really had a good depth fo flavours to it, and once again, chewy tasty base that was very puffy on the crust. I would have preferred if it came out later than the entrees however, because it was already cooling by the time I got stuck into it.
During the meal, we had the owner and one of the staff come up and check on us, and we enjoyed friendly banter with both. There was a friendliness that made us really feel at home and one of the family. Zuccaro Tratoria is BYO, so we brought along a bottle of shiraz, which worked nicely with the food. Even though we turned up fairly early at 6.00pm, the place was getting pretty full by the time we left at 7.30pm or so.
We would happily return here, a great location with super friendly service and great food - what else is...
