ichi Gateway — Restaurant in Northern Territory

Very disappointing. Visited the Gateway venue on a Tuesday evening for a birthday dinner, food came out extremely slowly which was very hard for younger kids to watch other people start eating but have to wait another 20mins for their food to come. Some portions were extremely small for the price, so as soon as we realised it just wasn't enough food we tried to order some more but the only waitress we could flag down said she didn't know how to take orders and would send someone else. It took another 10mins for someone to come over and take our order and even though the restaurant had started emptying out by that stage it still took over half an hour to get a few more dishes. We were all over it by then and paid the bill before the food arrived and asked for the last dishes to be takeaway but they still brought it out on plates. Not once in the nearly 2 hours we were there did anyone approach our table, clear any plates, offer us drinks or even check if everything was ok. The food is always great. I love the chashu tonkostu ramen spicy. Today (Wednesday 17th April 2024) I ordered one for take away and it came to $19.50 as it always does and didn’t think too much about it. I waited outside by the door and see the sign “Wednesday - Super Ramen Day ALL ramen $15”. I went back inside to inquire why I was charged the usual $19.50 instead of $17 ($15 special and extra $2.00 for spicy). The lady at the counter said in a very unassuming manner like she was trying to make up an excuse not to provide me with the difference back “ah it’s just for the QR code you select super ramen day then it’s $15 or it’s only available for katsu not chashu, yeah”. Now I feel they should change the sign to add “TC’s” like the Thursday special or honour their advertised prices if they are going to say “ALL ramen”. Indeed 5 star for the food🍣🍛🍝 and customer service 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿. The foods are amazing, they were cooked nicely with beautifully decoration. The sashimi on the boat looked fabulous and were really fresh as the of ocean. Specially, the ramen is really lovely, i was looking forward to them to roll out, and it was worthy. My family love the food so much. I have been there twice and enjoyed every single meal until end. This is the marvelous teamwork. The staffs were nice and patient when they explained the modern way to other the food. It’s really helpful that we can order any time. The trick that we should place order a couple of items at once then another, that’s way we will have the food really quick and don’t need to wait a long way for all of the food come up at once. They were so busy every time i came. Only few staff but they made a great job. I got great experience in here so why shouldn’t you. Highly recommend. Love this place....
