I crossed Argyle Street as two small groups came out of the brand new restaurant with everyone smiling. This is usually a good sign that they were happy. I managed to ask both of them briefly what they thought and both groups were extremely happy with their experience so far. In the words of one of the ladies I spoke to, āOh my God...ā was her affirmative response.
Itās the second day after opening and there is an intense flurry of activity a few minutes before closing. The staff is calling orders and verifying their accuracy as amazing savoury aromas drift through the new establishment, making all who are nearby swoon with delicious anticipation. My mouth was watering as I waited for my number to be called and the best part of the visit to begin.
Then, it was time. ā58!ā That was my cue to step up and grab hold of something special.
I sat down in the small seating area in the back and opened the lid that hid the ample smoky morsels of Pork belly and crunchy flavour saturated coleslaw.
To paraphrase RenĆ©e Zellweger in the movie āJerry Maguireā, you had me at āpork bellyā, but there was so much more than just that. While the meat was amazing and smoky, it also was tender and plentiful. The slightly spicy flavour stood out and proudly exclaimed its presence, but it in no way detracted from the flavour of the pork belly. With the coleslaw, it was blessed with the freshly created crunch that you would expect from a much more cosmopolitan setting. Each note was intense, balanced, flavour filled and worthy of the highest praise.
The staff was happy, helpful and knew their menu. There was no question that there was great planning and expertise in the smoking and menu execution of every perfectly orchestrated item.
Evidently, wait times had been quite extensive earlier today, but I didnāt feel that the wait was excessive. Still, It would have been very much worth the wait.
If a business commits to purchase what they can locally, they are worth a visit. If they execute the local ingredients with excellence as Smoke N Grill has, itās not a question of IF you should have a meal here, itās a question of when. Do it soon, you will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter spending more then $130 there on food we get all the way home and we are missing all chips. All we had was burgers and a meat box with a soggy piece of fish that didnāt even come with chips... We ate what we could but the meat was absolutely disgusting. Literally inedible, it was 90% fat and grease. I decided since we couldnāt even consume the burgers and meat I would call for a refund on the missing items. The disgusting waitress responded initially by saying āyeah? And what do you want us to do about it?ā So I demanded a refund. She then verbally abused me on speaker phone infront of several others including children. A real piece of work. I highly suggest you avoid at all costs. The work place was also filthy when I arrived to pick up the food and no one was handling food with gloves. They also blocked me on fb as to hide this review after being rude and patronising me as a paying customer. Very...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood stopover for some bbq food after a day of visiting the nsw rail museum as we just wanted to find a place to eat in the local town. We only got the 400g meat platter per the photo and it was $35, I guess inflation with everything getting expensive as previous menu photos indicated it was $30 š¬
All good it is what it is and the food was really yummy. It was enough for me and the wife plus our toddler although thereās reviews of the burgers being good but just didnāt have the space/stomach for it. The pork was really tender and brisket was nice - wish there was more of it to eat! š
As others suggested, there is parking at the back if you dont find street parking on the main road, just point google to the back (davidson lane) and thereād ample parking and you can access the shop from the back.
If you are lucky thereās 3 big table seats and 3 individual seating in the back...
