Girls out the front tried their hardest and were lovely, but the cook - note I say cook, not chef - needs to talk about his feelings more. Had the staff in tears and started punching the steel bench (assumed he could see his reflection in it, but doubt he kept it that clean) as soon as we asked why there was an hour and a half between dishes coming out. He accidentally mixed up the Schnitzels with the chicken nuggets based on their size, and the potato gratin tasted like it had been on one too many hot dates with the microwave. It’s also a shame to see he must have had an allergy to salad dressing because it wouldn’t have gone amiss. Shame for something that was booked 4 months ago. Luckily there’s no shortage of Saltwater Crocodiles and blowflies in FNQ so hopefully they’ll hire one as a replacement soon. The fairy lights were nice.
Genuinely uncomfortable seeing young girls who were trying their hardest in tears though, hope they get a cook who wasn’t ignored at family Christmas’...
Read morePort Douglas Yacht Club is one of the best places in Port Douglas and is its biggest secret, forget the Marina with its crowds and tourist focussed food/drinks and prices, you have to go to the Yacht Club. We went a few times for lunch and dinner but also we had our wedding reception there and it was amazing. We had it on the lawn with water both sides and the yachts and lights reflecting off the water it was magical. Richard the Manager bent over backwards to ensure that the night went off with out a hitch, the staff were so relaxed and happy and Michael the chef and his team provided fantastic food. Every one of our guests said that this was the best location, most relaxed and best food that they had ever had at a wedding reception. Do your self a favour and just visit the Yacht Club when you visit Port Douglas for lunch or dinner and experience the great honest food, cold beer or good wines and most of all genuinely friendly staff and I firmly believe you...
Read moreWednesday night sailing was fantastic!!! The yachting fraternity impressed me again!!! After a chance meeting at the local butcher, I was invited to put my name down for a Wednesday night sail. Like all great opportunities I approached the club with the understanding that IF I was given the opportunity to sail it would be a huge privilege. I put my name down in the book (well before 4pm) introduced myself and was directed to the captain of a Farr 44. I was over the moon. Yes I got to sail. I shared the experience with an eclectic group of people ranging from retirees (me) a wonderful singer/artist who graced us with a couple of songs, a few travelers and the captain his wife and daughter who were fantastic hosts. Could not fault the experience. Thank you so much. Oh by the way after the sail I stayed at the club for a meal. A supurb sirloin steak medium rare. With roast potatoes and salad. Great price and perfectly cooked. Don't overlook PDYC. A great...
