I recently dined at Lure Restaurant & Bar located in the Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina and had the opportunity to try their lunch, afternoon tea, and breakfast offerings over various days during our staff in Port Douglas. The culinary experience was, for the most part, good. Lunch was delightful, with fresh, well-prepared dish of Coral Trout that showcased high-quality ingredients from the area. The afternoon tea was equally enjoyable and for unwinding in the scenic marina setting. Breakfast, however, proved to be a very different experience. While the food itself maintained the high standards set by the earlier meals, an oversight by the staff led to an unfortunate ordeal. Before sitting down outdoors, the staff did not inform me of the presence of sand flies in the area. After we began our meal, we started getting bitten. While the staff did offer bug spray at that point, it was too late to prevent the extensive damage to myself and my wife. By the end of the day, I realized I had been bitten over 50 times—a painful and uncomfortable experience that disrupted my night sleep due to relentless itching. This situation resulted in extra expenses: a $30 visit to the chemist and a $125 appointment with a doctor to address the bites. The incident not only marred an otherwise wonderful dining experience but also caused significant distress and inconvenience. I strongly urge other patrons to be cautious about dining outdoors at breakfast time, especially near the water. Be proactive about protecting yourself against sand flies, bring bug spray in advance, or ask the staff for suitable precautions. In conclusion, even though Crystalbrook Marina food offerings seem to be slowly disappearing, we have always enjoyed the idyllic setting but the breakfast experience highlighted a need for better communication from the staff regarding environmental concerns. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously to ensure a safer and more enjoyable experience for...
Read moreAlthough the food in these photos looks decent, the actual quality and taste is pretty average. What contributed to this negative review however was more around the experience than the food. We ordered and waited for about an hour or more till all our dishes came out, and when they did there was a wrong order, which was very disappointing. They did offer to remake the meal in 15 minutes however we had been waiting for so long we did not want to and just ate what we were given - which was pretty average and felt poorly put together. The head waiter or whoever was the person in charge dealing with us could learn a thing or two about more appropriate ways to talk to customers. Rather than go on the defensive about when our orders were made, or about the lack of staff, it would’ve been a more hospitable tactic to sway us with less defensive words and tone, and to use more understanding. Thankfully they did give us a discount by the end, but the experience throughout was somewhat sullied. We will not be returning and we hope this review is a fair depiction and rating of the experience we had, and will be acknowledged and rectified for future customers sake. (Note: we ate here on Sunday the...
Read moreOrdered the seafood platter, the sashimi tuna was warm, the oysters had a strange after taste, the Moreton Bay bugs were dry not juicy, the salad was not fresh even had old lettuce in it, and came out bland with no dressing! If not for the cocktail sauce we would not be able to eat anything. Because the food came out soon after we ordered, I suspect the seafood platter with bugs, prawns, crab and the salad had been sitting prepped ready to go for a while. Really not impressed at all. The worst meal we have ever had in Port Douglas, the only reason I gave them one star is because you can post without ticking at least one. Well I suppose it is for the location. I did try to give some honest feedback to the head waiter, who could only say that I was the only one who ever complained! My wife and I had an awful yucky feeling for the rest of the day I was really worried I was going to be physically sick. We should have walked out after the first...
