The Salty Breeze Cafe — Restaurant in Queenscliff

Went for a birthday lunch celebration today, Service began ok but we were soon forgotten about, as were our meals which took over 90 minutes to arrive, Portuguese steak $30 x2 was tough and sinewy, in a watery sauce with boiled prosciutto, an undressed salad and seemingly boiled chips, eggs Benedict with store bought avocado and holandaise, eggs were set in the middle instead of poached, brekky burger $17 was tiny and bread burned, being told ‘we’re busy’ rather abruptly after waiting over an hour was a highlight, yet not as bad as the chef arguing that the food is good and not shop bought when told the meal was awful which it absolutely was and coming from a chef who can’t cook an egg or toast bread. The shoestring fries were a credit to her though. To be fair we were offered free dessert but were concerned that it would take an extraordinary amount of time to arrive and be borderline inedible like the rest of the meal, the prices aren’t exorbitant but the food and service were abhorrent, what a an unsightly...

My family and I caught the ferry across from Sorento for a bit of a road trip. We hunted down the local playgrounds in Queenscliff and came across Salty Breeze Cafe as a result (there's a great playground right near it). We had lunch there and the food and service was fantastic. The kids all had the homemade nuggets and chips which were delicious and they scoffed the lot (which is unusual for our kids as they're normally not big eaters). My wife has the cauliflower wrap which she loved and I had the steak sandwich which was the best one I've ever had. The steak was tender, the flavours and ratios were perfect. The service was great and the staff were asking for feedback on what they could improve which is a sign of a great culture. Ec This café absolutely blew me away! The food was beyond delicious – every dish was beautifully presented and packed with incredible flavor. The drinks were just as outstanding; my coffee was rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced, easily one of the best I’ve had in a long time.

What made the experience even more special was the service. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, creating such a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. You can tell they really care about their customers and take pride in what they do.
