My partner and I were keen for a meal and drink out for the public holiday. When we arrived staff were friendly and we were seated quickly as there was not many people in the venue. Our waitress was kind and took our order promptly. They currently have no liquor license which we weren't told until after we had already ordered so we got lemon lime bitters which came out in a premade bottle. (Disappointed as I love a good handmade LLB) I ordered the porterhouse steak medium rare with a bug topper in creamy garlic sauce and mashed potatoes/salad for my sides. My partner ordered the rib eye medium rare with the same topper and chips/salad. Food came out fairly quickly. However here is where we were incredibly let down... Both my and my partners steaks were well done and greyish in colour with zero seasoning no grill marks it honestly looked boiled. So zero stars for presentation there. The bug which was halved was cooked in an entirely different sauce to the "creamy garlic" sauce on the side that we were given. In saying that the bug was very mushy and part of the tail was dried up and stuck in the shell as if it were frozen. The "creamy garlic" sauce had zero flavour and honestly didn't think it had any garlic in it at all as it just tasted of bland cream. My mashed potatoes looked like when u put too much water into instant mash and was tastless and clumpy/watery. Zero seasoning zero butter zero flavour. Ive had plain porridge thats tasted better. Salad was the only thing actually edible on the plate but we were so let down as we were both starving and for the price of the meals this was extremely disappointing and inedible. I am normally not one to ever refuse to pay for something and send back food barely touched but it was just too much. Tried to eat the steak by putting heaps of salt and pepper on it and it didnt even help. Needless to say we will not be back. Very disappointing as this place had such potential and the menu actually looked very good. I wouldn't recommend this place with the current food quality. Best food there was the peanuts...
Read moreOne of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in Townsville. We booked for a larger table at 5.30 this evening, the place was very quiet ample staff but they just didn’t seem properly trained or to be working well together. We paid for the $6.50 bottomless coke and only got 1 glass of terrible post mix because we couldn’t get anybody’s attention for refills, meals all came out with different people at different times and were cleared by different people at different times so we asked multiple crew members multiple times for additional drinks that weren’t received, we had to ask for desserts after looking up the menu on our phones. (When you guys close in a couple of months look back on this feedback as a reason why, your lack of customer service had frustrated us so badly that we didn’t stay and order the extras we otherwise would have if we didn’t have to nearly crash tackle a staff member to spend money)
Now the food, it was edible certainly not worth the trip to Palmer street or the price. I had the buttermilk chicken salad with no tomatoes, the chicken was very very dry and overcooked and it arrived with tomato’s, it wasn’t an allergy thing so I ate around the tomatoes and mentioned it when the plates were cleared, because I had seen it was written down when ordered but by this stage I was lucky to just be fed, onion rings were soggy and undercooked, and we had to send meals back several times because they were missing toppers or got it wrong, again and again with a bunch of different crew members relaying wrong things and a different crew member bringing them back out in the end we gave up because it had been written down correctly originally so I’m not sure what’s going here because the place just wasn’t busy enough to justify the issues especially...
Read moreWe found this to be terrible & will not return or recommend. Here’s why… We made a booking for 5pm on Saturday big HR after checking out the only dinner menu online. When we arrive it was pretty quiet, only a few tables occupied. When we sit down, the table was dirty & the cutlery container only had one fork. We were given a menu which was small compared to the one online. There is no reference to this smaller menu online. If they can’t cope with the full menu during a normal day, then they should permanently change the menu, or at least promote it online for when it will be used. Took a while to have someone take our drink order (including water for the table) & we asked for the full menu. She also commented on bringing us cutlery. She said she had to check as their menu is different during busy times (it was not busy at all at this point). She came back & gave us the full menu. We ordered our meals. Our food arrived, but still no drinks or cutlery. We asked about the drinks & water. Drinks were eventually brought over after half way through our meals, but still no water. We asked again. Finally getting the water, we had pretty much finished our meals. All the tables had signs promoting you to sign up to their program to get $5 off your bill. The line now at the front register was large to get in, so went to pay at the bar which was not a problems. Until the scanner wasn’t working to take the discount. She said we’d have to pay at the main register if we wanted to use the discount. The line was at least 6 groups deep, so we didn’t bother. All the girls serving were friendly enough, but the guys were a different story. I know this is long winded but I wanted to share our full experience. Date night was not a pleasant experience for us & we...
