I have been in the hospitality industry for 30yrs, cooked with some impressive credentialed international chefs and establishments, early on as an apprentice I entered Salon culinary live cooking competitions, magic boxes and front of house but in all my experiences have I never ever been treated so well as I was last night as I celebrated my wedding anniversary with my wife, attention to detail does not begin to explain what happens at Soma, it is truely an experience worth paying for without the food, cocktails or wine. I will not bore you all with a long and extensive description of the culinary delights and sophisticated wine choices, you just have to…. You must experience it for yourself. Hats off to you Timo, Neil and your team, who all could be mistaken as co owners by the way they work. Our experience was one not of over bearing service or one of lack of care and attention it was how one would describe one of their cocktails a perfect balance and a pleasure to watch. We will be back, why would I waste my hard earned money on regular avg dining when I can have the experience I had last night. Ashamedly our experiences at Bar Soma have been infrequent, and I don't know why, it is actually very bloody good. It starts with the welcome and the service. When its busy you are made to feel like you are the only ones there, they pay attention despite being in demand for their attention. Naturally you expect the drinks to be good, and they are. They are a creative and exciting start before you settle into some really impressive wines that perfectly accompany your food. The food........I think you have to understand how impressive it is to serve food of this standard out of a kitchen that resembles the size of a shoe box!! I could rave about each dish, but that might spoil the surprise for you when you dine there. What I will say is that the "Feed Me" option is the way to go. It is very generous in portion, bold and exciting in flavour, and comforting in presentation.
