Absolutely amazing food sourced locally with an emphasis on freshness. The menu changes every week and is entirely guided by what is available and in season currently. Until you open the menu on the night, you'll never know what to expect! The meal is served in the Omakase style where the chef knows best and provides you with an edible journey of discovery. If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, the kitchen is happy to work with you to create a unique dining experience that you can enjoy. Be sure to put all your restrictions in the notes when you book though! Nothing worse than turning up and making unreasonable demands at the last minute. This leads me to the next point. Book ahead. There is limited room and limited opening hours. It is also extremely popular and busy, so if you just walk in off the street, you are unlikely to get a seat. That being said, the booking process is ridiculously simple online and they also can help over the phone. If you want the full experience, a five course meal and drinks, make sure to set aside a couple of hours to experience it all. Those 2 hours will fly by and your tastebuds will thank you for treating it to a unique banquet of flavour prepared to the highest standards.

My wife and I visited here for lunch to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary. It was certainly a 5-star experience! We arrived and had a pre-dinner drink. I had a "Larry" pale ale schooner ($10) and my wife had a cocktail ($20). Our waiter then presented us with a sealed menu and explained where all the fresh ingredients for the meal were sourced from. He explained that the menu changed at least weekly depending on the availability of fresh produce. There are only 2 choices on the menu - a 3-course or 5-course meal either with or without matched wines. We chose the 3-course with wine pairing @ $120 each. I also added natural oysters to the starter @ $18 for 3. They were superb. The meal was excellent and the service outstanding. We were never rushed and felt relaxed during the whole wonderful experience. Admittedly, it is expensive, but I believe it is the only restaurant in Hervey Bay offering a degustation menu. We would both heartily recommend Odyssey for a special occasion or as a gift to someone special. Certainly one for fine food fanciers!

We had the pleasure to dine at Odyssey during our summer holidays in Queensland. The restaurant was recommended on the Good Food guide, and after checking their website, we decided to try our luck at the last minute. The team was kind enough to accommodate us with the last 2 seats, at the bar. We had a great night still, looking at the barman shake cocktails and mocktails and serving wine. We love that the menu is a 'market' menu. It changes week after week depending on what is in season. The team in the kitchen works with "local" suppliers, growers, farmers or dairy farms about 300km around. We both really enjoyed the flavour combinations and how the chef plays with textures. Every dish was fresh and few components only were fried, which we lived (some restaurant really to much on fried components for crunch in my view). The menu was delicious from start to finish. The service was lovely, there for every of our needs without being too present. We will definitely be back next time we visit that beautiful part of Australia.

I was extremely disappointed with the quality and presentation of the food . To make things worse it was our wedding anniversary and I had gut pain a few hours after eating and had to take antispasmotics . I was also extremely dry in the mouth I’m in the health field and very well aware of food risks . The food especially the risotto was very salty and so was the spanner crab . The pasta was not al dente it was tough and I couldn’t even taste the spanner crab. I reported the saltiness of the dishes and they said they would put less salt on the rest which didn’t happen. I found the only positive thing of the whole night was Ebby the waitress. Very personable . The meal was way too expense for what you had . Especially the extras . I had pumpkin as an extra and received two small quarters of pumpkin and two small knobs and you paid $15 for it and it was poorly presented !! This is not how I remember this restaurant from previous owners . There are a couple of high quality restaurants around with atmosphere and not pay $389 !! If you are wondering what we ate and drank , we had the dozen oysters and the $95 meal off the menu . I had a glass of wine and champagne and my husband had two non alcoholic cocktails . I compared around and it was a lot cheaper elsewhere . I will never eat here again and certainly express my opinion of the restaurant . I have come from a background of fine dinning in my other work and this is nowhere near it . The presentation needs to be exciting and vibrant . It certainly lacks...

We had a wonderful dinner on Saturday evening. After fully transitioning from the old degustation menu to the new 3 course menu with 2 add on options the Odyssey crew have found a way to stay within the ever changing hospitality market and still give us the unique dining experience with a truly creative flare when it comes to the food.

Absolutely sublime, starting with the Hervey Bay scallop and finishing with the delectable sticky date pudding with scrumptious dishes in between. All were carefully curated to enliven the palate.

As well as the updated 3 course menu there is a substantial wine, beer, spirits & cocktail menu. The ambience was wonderful and the staff are attentive & accommodating, explaining each dish carefully.

Odyssey can cater for gluten intolerance and seafood intolerance. The new menu has dishes for all dietary preferences, seafood, meat & vegetarian, with most dishes either gluten free or can be made gluten free.

There is an online booking system and I would definitely suggest doing this as on the Saturday evening we were there all the tables were full. Street parking is readily available and free.

I would definitely recommend dining at Odyssey, it is a unique and amazing dining experience in Hervey Bay, unlike anything else available. A must for celebrations or just a way to sample local produce bursting with flavour...

Stunning........again!!!!!! We have been to Odyssey several times and each time we go they have improved what they do, which is pretty good given they started with the bar set high. Apart from the warm welcome, the excellent unobtrusive service, the amazing seasonal menu and the unrushed experience, one of the things they do brilliantly is cater to individual requirements. By this I mean it is no problem for them to cater for the dietary needs regardless of how restrictive they may be. The wonderful outcome is that each person still receives their own personalised menu and a meal that if you didn't know it had been modified you would still marvel at its beauty. Regarding the food, simply superb. Due to the fact they Jason & Scott amend the menu each week according to the seasonal local produce available means that each time you visit you are filled with anticipation about what is going to be on the menu. I for one get very excited and am rewarded handsomely with exquisite experiences at each course. The team at Odyssey are amazing. They do what they do really well, and we are lucky to have a dining venue of this quality in Hervey Bay, one which would sit comfortably in the finest dining options of Brisbane, Sydney...
