I never get my hopes up when trying a Thai place outside of Thailand. Hervey Bay is the last place I'd expect to find an good authentic dish. To my surprise our food came out beyond perfect. The flavours were on point in every way. My Pad thai was not overly saucy or dry. It was perfectly balanced with its sweet and sours. Every ingredient you'd expect to see in a real proper pad thai right down to the pickles. One of my mates got the pad siew. This is a dish thats easy to make, near impossible for an average chef to make good. The sauce was perfectly caramelised right onto the noodles and the wok hei aka breath of the wok, was mind blowing. For those of you that don't know. Wok hei is when the oil in the wok is heated to smoking temperatures and ignited with the burner below. The flame from the oil then mixes together with the rising steam coming from the ingredients, in turn imparting a strong smoky flavour to the food. It takes a skilled chef to pull it off, a master of their craft to get it perfectly and it really showed in the pad siew. My other mate got the wonton noodles. If I had to have one soup for the rest of my life it would be this soup. The way the flavours were so perfectly balanced really shows how well refined the chefs palette is. Nice fried garlicky flavours. Sweet but not overly sweet. Hearty and refreshing at the same time. The type of soup you would return an empty bowl with. There was abit of a wait from when we ordered to when the food arrived. Thinking back, it was well worth the wait and clearly extra care and attention was given to every single dish that arrived at our table. Dishes were well worth every penny spent as you could tell they didn't hold back with any ingredients. We'd gladly come back for more. Hands down the best Thai you're gonna find...
Read moreThe food was good in the end but the manner when taking my order for takeaway was off. I ordered just after 5, the person taking my order was very short with me, not sure if he could do it, said he had a full house of 20 coming in at 6. He could only do it if it was a small order. He made me feel horrible for ordering 2 mains and an entree but told me it would be only 15 minutes? I get there and pay. No customers there. No other takeaway bags there. Just my order waiting. It was well before 6. There was no 5pm sitting so I didn't understand why my order was an inconvenience. My partner reminded me that we had a similar experience when we dined there pre covid. The server kept looking at their watch and seemed put out when we asked for drinks. I'm not a demanding, rude customer. I'm a very patient person and willing to wait. I've just never been treated like this by any other business. It seems like the business doesn't want the business even in these trying times. Many other places are around that are busier and still nicer to deal with. I couldn't imagine dining there for a birthday to be made to...
Read moreWe arrived without a booking but were seated (four adults, one child) promptly. Our food and drink order was taken quickly with the drinks arriving shortly after. The first meal plate however did not arrive for over 40 minutes after being told that original curry duck order could not be completed but they were happy to do roast duck. The pork dish was dry and not hot (overcooked); the chicken was nice (warm but not hot); the duck arrived 10 minutes after the first plate it was cold in the centre (very obviously reheated and not cooked fresh). The duck was returned and the serving staff were apologetic, not their fault. At the counter to pay we were told they wouldn’t charge us for the duck! We left shortly afterward totally dissatisfied with the whole experience. Such a shame as we had heard great reports about their meals and now will never return and will not be giving them any...
