Brothers Sports Club Bundaberg — Restaurant in Queensland

My first ever Google review was inspired by such an underwhelming food experience across the meals had by my family early January 2023. If in town choose anywhere else! I think an achievement in poor food quality can be owned when a generally ravenous teenage boy fails to complete his meal due to quality of food. I now see other reviews where the ribs or the meat tasting plate receives likeminded comments of fat to meat ratio distorted to ribs of fat and fat that is yellowed, jelly like and inedible. Of noting also is a "coleslaw" that is undressed. Neither male completed their meal. My daughter's chicken schnitzel was the only meal that met a satisfactory level. My charred chicken maryland is described as accompanied by a bourbon sauce, mashed potatoes and wilted greens. The sauce that arrived and doused the whole dish appeared curdled, yellow and oily that reeked of garlic - not bourbon by any assessment. The amount that drenched the dish could be scooped and filled a side plate. While the chicken piece itself was edible the mashed "potatoes" were grey in colour and both gluggy and lumpy - I have had packet mash in the 80s that tasted better to what was served - again not eaten. The wilted greens I could honestly not tell you what they were - some leaf variety - hidden under the chicken and wilted no doubt by embarrassment on being on the plate! They say you eat with your eyes - well my dish arrived appearing to be already ingested once and thrown up mother bird style to reduce the amount of chewing required!! While the staff seemed friendly and efficient until meals were served, my son noted they observed me decant the "sauce" onto the side plate and we sat finishing our drinks with half full plates of food all round clearly finished and there was no attempt to clear the plates or check how our meals were - which to me demonstrates the amount of faith in what they serve or pride in ensuring a satisfactory experience. I think its time for management to have a look at quality of food served or look to base your establishment as one of pokies and entertainment as food service is definitely a high risk...

I think the meals are value for money. They are brought to the table. The schnitzels are quality, hand crumbed real chicken. Not the fake style. Salads and chips are always fresh. Pizzas are big ! Can't say I've been disappointed.

Thanks to the ginger haired barman, Tristan, who serves my wine in a preferred large glass. Food arrives quickly and hot. Never been asked if I need a take away container before, anywhere, but I always do here. Well done 👏 ✔️

May 2024 update

Brothers has become a regular stop ! It's becoming quite popular and can see why. The bistro staff are always on the ball ! Every time we go for dinner the food is restaurant quality ! The prawn, pork belly, sundried tomato pasta was exquisite and probably the best pork belly I've ever had ! Actually had meat and not just fat ! Reef and pizza was delicious with the steak very tender ! The bar staff help out whenever they can in the bistro and even though it can be extrbusy, the meals came out quite quickly. Cannot fault it !

We visited White China Restaurant, inside the Brothers Sports Club in Bundaberg. The food was ok not the best or the worst food ever eaten. Drinks are ordered through the Sports club which are reasonable.

The food was quick and easy to order and was at our table within ten minutes, with smiles from the staff. We had our drinks from the club and was a decent price for the area.

There are pokies if you need, sports being played on Tv's near the max's sports bar. So you can watch your NRL or if your from down south you can see your favorite AFL play. There are lots of horse and dog racing as well, and Keno if you need to play.

Come along and experience the hospitality of all staff at the site. They have raffle's, competitions, and live stage shows during the opening times. Ring the club if you want to find out more about the club and what's on.
