We went to Buddy Boy Kitchen last night for a child-free date night and were absolutely blown away! The vibe of the place was chill and relaxing, and the service was fantastic from start to finish.
When we arrived, I noticed there were no mocktails on the menu (I’m currently pregnant), but when I asked, they didn’t hesitate to whip one up for me and it was amazing! Such a lovely touch that really set the tone for the night.
We started with the Salt-N-Pepa calamari, which came out quickly and was plated beautifully perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. They waited until we’d finished before bringing out our mains, so we never felt rushed and could properly enjoy our dinner.
For mains, we ordered the scotch eye fillet steak and the pork ramen. The steak was cooked perfectly to a medium-rare, and the ramen broth was full of flavour with tender, melt-in-your-mouth pork. Our host was so attentive too noticed when my drink was empty and offered another straight away, even bringing my partner’s next drink out at the same time.
We’re usually not dessert people, but with how amazing everything had been, we couldn’t resist and wow, we’re so glad we didn’t! The chocolate lava cake was extraordinary, and the coconut panna cotta was just as delicious, beautifully plated to look like a real coconut.
We left feeling beyond happy with our experience and will definitely be back to try more of what Buddy Boy Kitchen has to offer. Honestly can’t believe it’s not more well-known it’s an...
Read moreWe chose Buddy Boy Kitchen in Rockhampton based on the excellent reviews. The atmosphere was pleasant, the welcome warm, and the service friendly and professional without being over the top.
Food-wise, we enjoyed several dishes: the chicken bao was delicious, and the coconut panna cotta was a great surprise, although the portion was very small. Overall, the food was decent.
The big downside, however, is the pricing and menu structure. Prices are extremely high compared to the portion sizes – easily double what we would normally expect to pay for a similar experience. Having run our own restaurant for 6 years and being frequent diners, we feel confident saying the value for money simply isn’t there.
On top of that, the set menu options are very confusing This pricing structure is hard to follow, and when paying, the waiter seemed to push us toward the more expensive option. Whether this was intentional or just confusion on his part, it left a poor impression at the end of the meal.
In summary: a decent dining experience with good service and a few standout dishes, but overpriced and with a confusing menu structure that prevents us from recommending it...
Read moreSo each month we do "restaurant roulette" where we pick a restaurant out of a bag of names. It's a great way to try new places. This month was The Stirling which is the restaurant at the motel on the corner of the Bruce Highway and Albert Street. There is no street noise inside the restaurant even though it's on a busy road. The decor was nice and they have some beautiful photos of local areas which I thought was a great touch for a motel restaurant. We hadn't been for quite a while but have always had a good experience and last night was the same. Good food, friendly service and nice atmosphere. We had some friends join us so we between us were four different dishes and everyone was happy with their meals. A gentleman from the kitchen even came out himself to make sure all meals were okay which I thought was a nice touch with the service. I had the pork belly which is my go to if it's on a menu and this one was very good with a super crunchy crackle, yumm. Good sized meals at pretty...
