I ordered the spicy pie, and after a small warning from the bubbly cashier about it being spicy, I paid and went on my merry way to the top of Charter's Towers.

By god, even if you think you can tolerate spice, be prepared to have your mouth massacred. So alright, you walk into this seemingly normal looking bakery run by causcasian people, so you think 'eh, how spicy could a spicy pie be if it's from this place?' Don't make the same mistake I did. Three bites. It took me three bites into the pie for my body to fully realise the grave mistake I made. The spice in this thing absolutely tore up my mouth, had to force myself to throw up because I could feel it burning a hole right through my stomach. Was crying and spilling saliva out of my mouth - my body's feeble attempt to rid myself of this cursed thing.

The worst part? It lingers. I chugged milk and yoghurt like a starving child, and it still didn't go away. For hours after I'd left Charter's Towers, I could still feel my decision haunting me. It wasn't until that night that I could finally taste other food.

I ate some pastries from here a few years ago and wasn't a fan however I returned a month ago and could not fault the food. I returned again this morning and ordered 2 pies, a citrus tart and a loaf of white bread. I've got to say the bread was soo fresh and delicious. I can't even use it for toast because the loaf as bread is the best I've ever had. The pies were amazing and the citrus tart was flawless. Staff were friendly and store is clean and well set up. I've been on nightshift so didn't order a coffee but the smell of the coffee was to die for. Store was fairly busy for a small town at 7am nevertheless it shows this place is deffinately worth the visit...

My husband and I were working in Charters Towers this week, and we happened to get a couple of pies for brekky one morning. We hated them!! We had just (thought we had) decided to go on a diet, but those pies ruined our plans, 'cos we would be going back for more on the following days!!! A very clean place and extremely friendly staff. It's difficult to choose from the so many delicious pies and pasties and all varieties of sweets as well. Everything we had along the week was absolutely delicious, and I am looking forward to trying their bread, which looks...
