Cooroy RSL — Restaurant in Queensland

I reluctantly give poor reviews. However, feel constructive criticism is appropriate. A group of us choose to have brunch each week at Cooroy RSL. The menu certainly looked like a great selection. Bacon appeared to be the focus of most of the breakfast items. Some of us don’t eat bacon because of its high fat content. When asked to substitute bacon with another less fattening and less costly item we were told it’s not possible. It WAS possible to order the dish without bacon, then add from a list of extra items at an extra cost! Bacon is listed as $4, an egg $3, yet when requesting an egg substitute it was not possible. The servings of bacon are huge and dominate the dish. Being so inflexible has caused our group to go elsewhere. Where most other establishments are happy to put the customers needs first. Disappointing as the coffee is made to order at the bar and was very good. Whoever made the decision to be so inflexible has sadly lost our custom for now!

EDIT: Thanks for your response making poor excuses. FYI it hasn’t been very busy when our group met weekly at 10am. Staff often have time to stand around chatting. How hard is it to hold off the bacon and provide a poached egg instead. Busier establishment can manage it. Also, I don’t consider Banana bread and ice cream, nor toasties a suitable breakfast...

Hi Sorry But if you are not told you will never know ? I / We’ve been going to the Cooroy RSL for over 10 year and quiet often have invited guests to join us quiet of the and have enjoyed our meals ? The last few months I have to say the meals have been way below average? Tonight one my guest ordered Lambs Fry ? He was not impressed as the lambs fry was so thin it was like leather? Not to mention the other meals that were tasteless? It would be a Great Idea for the Menu on the Special Board to be changed every mth as well as the Meal of the Month ? As the Special Board has been the same for years for the Meal of the Month? Speaking of the meal of the month Duck ? Who wants to eat Duck for a Month? Went in at 2.00pm. Immediately told by the bartender to remove my hat. I apologised and took it off but made to feel like a naughty schoolboy. Asked about pale ales no recommendations just pointed to the XPA. Wife and I ordered lambs fry and roast off the seniors menu. I paid full amount. Wife asked why we didn’t pay’s seniors price was told “because you didn’t ask. How was she supposed to know if we didn’t ask?” Meals arrived. Beef was edible but dry dumped on top of under cooked greens and older tasting mashed potatoes. Then flooded with gravy. Lambs fry similar. Music was teeth grinding techno sounding.
