Lets Do Greek is conveniently located at the base of Aligned Corporate Residences, and unlike a lot of establishments, did not have loud music blaring out at the time of visit. +1 point.
LDG is almost exclusively furnished in teal blue, to impart the Mediterranean feel, whilst a little bold, it is not offensively so. Having some white chairs would break it up a little, and could be representative of small boats on the Aegean Sea. The furniture is standard, and was comfortable enough.
Service: Service at LDG was excellent. The young lady who served was both engaging and knowledgeable, which led to me ordering more food than if just the menu had been left with me. Furthermore, she offered everyone the same courtesy, even when a birthday party of 10 guests showed up. Likewise, the young lady behind the bar was also pleasant and very free with her smiles, whilst redundant to say, was really nice to receive when you've had a long day out in the sun, and feeling like a lobster.
Food: For entree, the Dip for One along with beetroot salad, and I will be the first to admit that I may have overestimated my appetite. The salad and hummus were both excellent and filling, and the pita bread would also have been delicious, but they were heavily encrusted with salt. Now I enjoy salty food, but this was a bit too salty for my liking, even with the garnishment of beetroot salad. It wasn't terrible, just a little much, so just be aware.
The main course was Seafood Platter for One, and this was thoroughly enjoyable. It is expected that seafood will be salty, and it may be that the pitas from the entrees had oversalted my tongue, but a squeeze of lemon helped balance it out. I dared not brave a dessert, but the selection was quite tempting.
LDG has astutely realised that a significant number of their diners are business people staying at the ACR, hence the amount of 'for one' dishes, but having said that, it ( happily) seems to be popular with the locals too, as several young and old couples wandered in, as well as the aforementioned birthday party.
The owner also works the floor, engaging and schmoozing with the customers and seemed charming enough. It's a small touch that some modern restaurants do not have, beyond a polite enquiry about the food, and so the owners interaction is a pleasant stand out from the crowd.
I would happily recommend...
Read moreHit and miss. We've been here before with a mixture of good food/unprofessional service, but tonight was a downright disaster. We had booked a table for a friends birthday, arrived at 6.30pm, drink orders taken lackadaisically and the wrong drink brought out. Food was brought out, but as we hadn't ordered yet it obviously wasn't ours. As the young waitress spun around she spilled tzatziki all down my friends back. Asked for table water multiple times and had to go in to the bar to ask for it again and take it out myself, 7.40pm we were back at the bar asking for glasses and for them to take our order. Meanwhile a table that had been seated 40 minutes after us was already eating, and another couple was asked to move tables for the THIRD time. The young waitress who was only new but obviously hadn't been taught how to speak to customers came out demanding we give her our empty glasses and put them on the tray. The other waitress while pouring wine at our table then abruptly called across tables to new arrivals, 'Have you booked?' 8.42pm our meals are finally brought out to our tables but one is completely forgotten, (and the table mentioned earlier has finished their meals and already left). My Calimari was totally overcooked to the extent that the Calimari (not the batter) was crunching between my teeth and totally inedible, this was later graciously taken off our bill. We were asked if we would like to have the birthday cake bought out, then they forgot about it. We had to start clearing our plates ourselves, which the owner took offence at and It took half an hour to be able to pay because the eftpos machine kept crashing. There were so many other things tonight, like one staff member wearing thongs, and the floor being so greasy my shoes were slipping, but I'd be here all night writing this. With four front of house staff for 9 or 10 tables there was no need for everything to be so abysmal and disorganised. I felt sorry for the new young waitress, it was not a good environment to be learning in. We won't be...
Read moreAfter reading the reviews I really thought this place would have been so much better than it was. We dine out with customers a lot for our jobs and luckily last night we didn't have customers with us as I was somewhat disappointed.
We ordered a bottle of wine, some tapas, dolmades and the baby octopus which were really lovely and set the standard. The waitress didn't know how to open a corked bottle of wine then spilled wine everywhere as she pored our glasses.
After a 25 minute wait the waiter finally came to our table to take our main dish order. We had to flag someone down in the end as we were ignored due to low staffing.
We then waited nearly an hour for our mains to arrive.
We ordered the "signature dish" the Greek grilled meats and the Greek lasagna.
The "signature dish" had subtle Greek flavours which were nice however the cooking of the various meats were sub standard. The chicken was overcooked, the steak was tough and dry. The lamb cutlet was slightly overcooked and the meatball was very nice.
The lasagna had very nice flavour but the dish lacked the flair of the entrees.
For just over $200 including a bottle of wine we felt that it was not worth the money.
The service quality really let the whole experience down too.
I must say the serving sizes were very substantial and you wouldn't leave the place hungry however we did leave somewhat disappointed.
Would I go back?...
