The visit started off promising, the side dishes of bossam, and sausage rice cake skewer were all delicious and well prepared. Unfortunately, the experience quickly took a turn for me.
The main dishes, one a part of the chef’s choice, was disappointing, one was burnt and the beef silken tofu stew lacked any real depth of flavour. Side dishes felt repetitive and underwhelming, with more lettuce piled onto lettuce, kimchi lacking any real amount for its cost.
While the food alone might have earned a pass, the real issue was the unacceptably poor customer service. Our server was rude and unapproachable, placing food and drinks on the table with noticeable attitude and no basic courtesy. When it came time to pay, we were ignored at the counter. I completely understand being busy with something else, but a simple acknowledgment “I’ll be with you shortly” goes a long way.
When my partner raised this concern, we were met with dismissive hostility and gaslighting, claiming our child had already been told we’d be attended to (which simply didn’t happen, as we were all standing together at the counter).
It’s disappointing to see such a lack of professionalism. While the food had its moments, the attitude and treatment from staff ruined the entire experience. Sadly, I can’t recommend this restaurant based...
Read moreI went with friends for the grand opening. Very busy venue. Staff were busy but still friendly. It’s where the old Vietnamese restaurant was, not much has been changed with the dining areas, a few wall hanging features added for some touch of decoration. Sitting down, we could hardly hear each other as it was so very noisy. For some reason so much more compared to what it was before. It might have something to do with how the non fully closed in kitchen and the dining area is set up. It is definitely a down side if you wanna talk to your friends and family over dinner. I hate having to yell and struggle to hear what the other person has to say. It’s is a bit tiring. Hopefully they can sort it out soon. Though most Korean classic dishes are featured, some others like Kimchi Pancake, Jajangmyeon, Teobokki and others are sadly missing. It is a small menu. Nothing wrong with that but maybe they might consider making changes according to customer feedback in the future? Pricing was reasonable. We did enjoy the grand opening days discount which we were grateful for. Flavor wise I can only speak for myself so you might wanna try it to make your own judgement. I’m glad another business has opened up and joined the Mackay dining scene to offer more options for customers. Hopefully they will do...
Read moreReally delicious food with a good variety of vegan and vegetarian options. They didn't have some of the dishes advertised on their Facebook menu so that was a bit disappointing as I went there for something specific. However, the food we did get was incredibly delicious and the serving sizes were very generous!
The bibimbap is exceptional and they are able to offer soy sauce instead of spicy sauce for people who don't want too much spice. The scallion pancake was super yummy and extremely good value. I expected it to be small as it was on the sides menu, but it was genuinely massive. Larger than a dinner plate and easily enough to have as either an entire meal or as a side for the entire table.
The service was great and the meals arrived quickly. We had a few hiccups during our order but they were easily fixed and the staff were delightful and happy to help.
My only minor complaint would be how crowded the place feels but that is to be expected of a small venue. They did well to keep the music at an appropriate volume so that it can be heard but it's still possible to hear your...
