From the moment you walk up, you can tell you're in for a treat. The service is fast, friendly, and always welcoming, even when they're busy (which they often are!). The real star, of course, is the food. The fish is flaky and perfectly cooked, the batter is light and crisp without being greasy, and the chips are golden and satisfyingly crunchy. We ordered one of their packs and were blown away by the quality and the generous portions. Honestly the worst fish and chip place I’ve ever had. Very disappointed as it was recommended from a local and had highly rated reviews. The “fresh” prawns were literally still frozen inside, the meat was rubbery and fibre-y (far from fresh tasting), the red emperor and ocean trout literally tasted and looked the same! Both fish lacked freshness, thickness and flavour. It was very close to FLAKE!!! The chips were tripled cooked as if it was cooked an hour ago and re heated with a third dunking of oil.

Upon returning to complain the “Karens” did not apologise or own up to the foods lack of quality. We spent $98 for everything and it is so sad that this fish and chips store cannot produce the highest quality of seafood while charging a premium. The seafood trawler is literally down the road!!! Our family was only visiting Hervey Bay, and we were in search of the best Fish n Chips takeaway in the area. Maddigans is where we went. I didn't get the Supervisors name that was on, but he was a very kind and friendly gentleman. He gave us the best combination that would cater for 23 people. Even though it was a really busy night for them. Him and his staff were still able to complete our whole order, in less than 30 minutes. The food was beautiful.
