Metropolitan Hotel — Restaurant in Queensland

After the customer service experience we encountered on Sunday, July 27th, 2025 at 2:41 PM, we have decided that we will not be returning. It's unfortunate because the food has consistently been excellent.

During our visit, we sat at a high table, where a female staff member delivered our meals, then brought over cutlery before returning to the bar. When there was no salt and pepper on the table, my husband kindly took a set from an empty table nearby. The same staff member gave him a disapproving look, retrieved a set from the back, to replace the ones he took. My husband apologised, explaining he was going to return them after use, but she responded rudely, saying, “In future, don’t touch them; we will bring you some.” Her tone and manner was rude and dismissive, which dampened our overall experience.

I approached her politely to request take-away containers, as we decided not to stay any longer. Upon returning our empty plates, I explained that our decision to leave was due to her rude and condescending attitude, emphasising that such behaviour is inappropriate when dealing with customers. Unfortunately, she did not apologise and instead argued, insisting she was not rude, and said that “they have a system”.

We hope the management will consider providing additional customer service training to ensure staff communicate politely and respectfully. Kindness and professionalism go a long way in creating positive...

So it's not bad for a budget place my aircon sucks big time. Anyway that's okay, what has pissed me off the most is the gay guy who works at the bar also not just him the kiwi girl and one other. I'm trying to get served by a lovely bloke chubby girl and those 3 are yelling and interrupting me and her ordinary my meal. It took me to turn to the gay giy and say did mummy and dad not tech any of u manners and not to talk over others why they are talking. He walked off. I get it yiur gay and loude and proude but f me mate I want to order my meal and get it right for f sake. The meal was alright I didn't relise the steak was chagrined not a fan did order med rear got med to well done. But I ate most of it veg was good. The chesse and bacon bread was good, but the chesse cake dame was good ba the christmass pudding bottom not a fan sorry but all in all I give u guys 6 out of 10 for food. I just wish gay boy would not be so loude and proud and have a bit more respect that be nice. U can tell he didn't like me but hey not my problem. Lol 😆 room is good for a night been a truck driver it's good for me. I say not for a posh person thou....

One of the worst hotels I have stayed at. Arrived and found you had to go to the bar to check in where I was ignored to 5 minutes while they served drinks. When finally served the lady took more than 5 minutes to come back after trying to find my book. Got to the room and found a sign that said they were having plumbing issues with the hot water and you had to run it for 10 minutes to get any. Wife tried having a shower and after finally getting hot water for a minute it went stone cold with no pressure. It then went instantly hot to the point is scalded her. She got out and readjusted it. Tries again and it did the exact same thing a minute later. Stone cold and then burned her. I went back to the bar and told the staff. They couldn’t do anything apart from offering another room to shower in. And to talk to the manager the next day. I didn’t receive a call from the manager when promised. I ended up calling her and got a rude lady who couldn’t give a damn. I promptly cancelled my second night and when somewhere else. Avoid this place...
