O'Dowd's Irish Pub — Restaurant in Queensland

Just went to 5 or 6 different pubs in Rockhampton, Queensland and not one had cider on tap. Took this photo at one of them and this is typical of them all. 12 beers, Ginger beer and Canadian Club and dry all on tap, but not one cider. Makes no sense to me. The story does have a happy ending though. Pub number 7 was O'Dowd's Irish pub and we love it. Parked up out the front and ready for a night of dancing to a good band they have playing tonight, because they don't have pokies and best of all, $8 pints of magners on tap. My favorite cider and I had actually forgotten how good it tasted. It is going to be a good night.

Our camp up for the night. Band on around 8pm. Good crowd expected. Dinner ordered. Let the party begin. Dinner has arrived. I had the beef and Guinness pie and it was very yummy. Susie had nachos with extra jalapeno and loved it. What a kewl pub. Great staff and tasty food and a band. I did not enjoy staying in this accommodation at all. 3 nights of a smelly room as there was only one door and no windows. Door opened up right Infront of the shared kitchen, so you couldn't really leave it open for fresh air. The shared bathroom was horrible with the basin bench cracked and leaning down a bit. The hot taps didn't turn on and struggled to use the cold ones. I was under the impression I had ordered a single room with its own bathroom not a bunk room shared Doorm room. The bar seemed to close early on Saturday night before 10pm. It was freezing in the pub. They do not cater for gluten free meals unless you want a salad. It was cheap accommodation but I feel it's not even worth what I paid. I do not recommend to any one not even for a drink. Unless your drunk and can't get home then...

Guiness on tap had a funky taste qccording to me and my Dad even after returning for a 2nd round hoping it was just something not fresh in the lines: seems it was the whole keg though. The chicken wing dish wasnt heated through and my bangers were only luke warm. Had upset tummy next morning, which you never can tell where you picked the bug up from but ill let you put 2 and 2 together. Had the good old Irish pub atmosphere with...
