We cannot give this place any more chances... Ordered the Ribs and Wings Special which was coated in a sauce that would have been better served from a homebrand bottle. The worst is yet to come.... My daughter ordered the Fettuccine Carbonara, it is a simple dish that varies from place to place BUT this was beyond terrible... Chef was full of excuses (one was that he used smoked chicken, more like dish water) and hotel has a policy of no refunds and didn't even offer to redo the meal. Offering a free drink or dessert just doesn't cut the mustard... If you cannot cook a Carbonara get out of the kitchen. Thanks to the Bistro Manager for being as helpful as possible, although her hands seem to be tied. Do yourself a favour and try the frozen Carbonara from Aldi, at least it will be the right colour. See photos, the brown photo is from the Young Australian and the second from another hotel the next night... Date of visit: August 2023

Absolutely fabulous lunch and great value lunch specials for only $20. The main menu is also available. Generous portions and fast service and a lovely big dining area. Definitely will return as this was our first time here. Highly recommended. Lol forgot to take a pic of our lunches but our group had works burgers and meat lovers parmi YUM 😋

We had an 80th birthday celebration in the function room today (2/1/22). It has been in the planning for almost 12 months & due to covid plans kept changing things from both our perspective and the Hotels perspective. However on the day everything ran smoothly. Jackson, the Functions Manager was a pleasure to deal with in co-ordinating the event. Nothing was too much trouble and he ensured all was in order. For someone who has only recently taken on this role, he did very well. Another plus, was the delightful Tee, who was running our bar. What an amazing lady she is. A bright, bubbly and engaging personality she ensured that the thirsts were quenched promptly and responsibly. Again nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious. We had pre-ordered the meals prior to the event and all guests were served in a timely manner, and no one was left waiting. Well done Alex and his team. As this was my first visit to The Young Aussie, I was suitably impressed. Congratulations to Jackson and Tee, you made the function a memorable one and I have no hesitation in recommending the Hotel for functions. Next time, we're in Bundaberg I look forward to...

I first went to this pub on Valentine's day, it was terrible I found plastic in my entree and for that they gave me a 50$ voucher, so I went again to try again with my dad/mum and their was kids running a muck and screaming and the parents were not doing anything about it, so we left and tried spotted dog which was perfect! so tonight I went again to give it another try with the voucher I got given and I was all most charged without the voucher until i realized that they didnt count the voucher onto the bill, from there I got served and got told that it would take 40 minutes to get our mains. And then we got put in a corner at the back of the pub, and waited an hour to almost get noticed because one of the workers forgot to print out the docket and send it to the kitchen, from there we got given free drinks as an apology, and then we got our entrees, and then got given our mains, my vegetables were not cooked, my sons chicken was cold and by the end of it our entrees were the hottest/ best meal...

Been coming to the young Aussie for the past 2 years now, definitely my favourite pub in Bundaberg. Especially during current inflation I find food cost:service:quality ratio to be on the ball. Majority of the team members definitely seem to enjoy working there when you go in during the quiet period, of course it's hard to seem like your having a good time when flat out. Some of the cheapest and best pub cooked steaks I've had in Bundaberg. Only on the nights where their main chefs have been away have I experienced a sub par steak. Sub par in the manner that they just need more practise cooking steaks, NOT sub par as in barely edible, super overcooked steak. The chicken schnitty has always done me good, even when sick or struggling to eat regular meals. The worst food item I have ordered to date was the chicken club burger. Not because it was bad but just because it needs some seasoning/sauce adjustments to make it a little less bland/monotonous texture and taste.

Side note: the Diane sauce...
