Stumbled upon this cute Korean restaurant run by a group of young Koreans. They have quite an extensive menu of popular Korean dishes, like Korean fried chicken, bibimbap, soups, several kinds of noodles, Korean pancakes, various stir fried proteins in Korean style sauces, and more.

I ordered the fried chicken because who can resist freshly fried, made to order Korean chicken? It’s AUD $29 for a combo that comes with seven boneless pieces of chicken, salad, and fries. Of course, I also ordered rice on the side because that’s how I like my fried chicken, with rice. I added a side of kimchi as well.

The food came out quickly. It was freshly fried, piping hot, and the soy sauce chicken was perfect for me, salty, sweet, and paired beautifully with white rice. For drinks, I had to get Milkis, a Korean milky soda that tastes like a sweeter Yakult with a little fizz. It goes so well with fried chicken.

The portion was generous, I could only finish half the rice and none of the fries lol. I really liked that the chicken was moist inside and crispy on the outside, although I personally prefer bone in chicken for better flavor. The rice was nice and fluffy, and the kimchi was really good. It’s a bit pricey at AUD $3 for a small portion, but the flavor was great, not too sour.

The only real downside was that they didn’t serve pickled radish with the chicken. Honestly, that feels like a crime, it’s like serving bread without butter. I would’ve happily paid extra if it were on the menu.

Other than that, everything was excellent, the food, the service, the atmosphere. Definitely...

We came here on the great reviews but have left very disappointed. We ordered a vegetable jap chae and 1/2 fried chicken to share between the two of us.

The jap chae was very unauthentic in that the sauce tasted like oyster sauce and the noodles were drowned in it. The fried chicken was over fried and very dark looking. The batter was crunchy but due to it being nearly burnt. When we raised this with the waiter (aka manager), he took a piece of chicken from our plate and walked to the kitchen to taste it as did not appear to understand what was wrong with the dish. He came back to advise that the chicken inside is fine and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. We tried to convey the point that the batter was very dark and had a slightly burnt taste. We asked him if it was due to the oil not being changed if he didn’t think the chicken was overcooked. He said that they changed the oil every morning, indicated there was nothing wrong with the dish and offered to replace it. We decided to decline as based on his comments, it would seem that we would get exactly the same dish again.

We requested the dish to be sent back and remove the item from the bill. To which he offered to discount the dish by 50%. As there was no other option, we accepted and asked for the bill.

When he gave us the bill, he then told us he had removed the item from our bill.

In summary, the two dishes we had were nothing as expected and the customer service left much...

Zizigo had amazing food, great service, and friendly staff and we will definitely be back! We went for dinner and it was quite busy, I'd recommend making a reservation. We ordered the pork gyoza which were freaking amazing, crunchy on the outside with moist flavourful filling - served with a little coleslaw like side salad. For mains we shared their Bulgogi - which was very fresh and light, and comes with steamed rice, pickled daikon, bowl of miso, and bowl of kimchi, and also their signature dish, Crispy Chicken which comes with salad, fries (which you can upgrade to sweet potato fries) and your choice of sauce. I preferred the soy sauce, and hubby liked the sweet chili. They had two types of Asahi and another craft beer on tap, as well as standard Aussie drinks, soju and other Korean drinks. Sadly as I was designated driver, I couldn't try the soju.

You receive a spoon and disposable chopsticks (good quality) for cutlery, tucked into a quality paper napkin. There wasn't any salt on our table as we had an early dinner, but we aren't aren't salty people and didn't need it. I think the only criticism I have is that there were no coasters for our drinks which caused a lot of condensation...
