ROYAL on Ninety-Nine — Restaurant in Roma

The place looks beautiful and was clean. Unfortunately they are very understaffed at the moment so ultimately the quality of the food is suffering.

There were a few minor inconveniences such as no salad dressings, and lumpy potato mash... However, we did experience a few major ones.

We ordered some beers on tap, which unexpectedly were flat. Not completely, you could still see a few little bubbles at the beginning... but there was definitely something wrong or out of place with their tap system.

I ordered the nachos, and oh my...... I'm still shocked... I feel bad writing this, but I'm fairly confident the salsa was filled with a high percentage of tomato ketchup... it honestly tasted like the ketchup from a red squeezy bottle.... it was all I could really taste and towards the end, I simply couldn't bare anymore and wiped off all of the tomatoey part.... it really was a shocker unfortunately..

The steak sizes are also very inconsistent. My father ordered a 400g T-Bone steak and received a very thin steak that resembled the thickness of BBQ sizzle steak. However we later saw a young girl receive a nice sizable steak. I know this is out of their hands and is a supplier issue, but it is still good to know before ordering.

Went for breakfast and ordered drover’s breakfast,what a disappointment. Drover’s in the area must be fading away! When my meal came out there was mushrooms on my plate which I asked for no mushrooms and there was no hash brown, the staff member to my plate back to the kitchen and returned he had just scraped the mushrooms off the plate and brought it back to me but still left a couple of mushrooms on my plate!!!! I asked where my hash brown was and the staff member said I think we are out of them. Which I wasn’t told that when order was taken.

Wanted soft poached eggs and received rock hard one’s,said something to the staff and he went straight to the kitchen and reordered fresh one’s. I waited over 10minutes and still no eggs, I had to say something again and by the time my fresh eggs came out my other breakfast had gone cold. I refused to eat breakfast by this time and asked for my money back which I received,that’s the only bonus.

The service I received from the manager today was appalling to say the least. Zero people skills for someone working in hospitality.

There was an incident with my son becoming locked in the toilet. I got the attention of a staff member who went to help. Waited for her return… to which took 5 minutes. My friend and myself unlocked to door ourselves to then walking out of the toilets to see a staff member returning stating she couldn’t help. The manager then came to our table queried the incident by talking down to us not to us. Never once asked if my son was okay or if he needed help. Safe to say the Royal has lost loyal customers today.

To end on a positive note. There were two gentlemen working. One who took our order and the other brought our coffees. They were positive upbeat polite and overall amazing service from these...
