20250713 We've been back regularly and I thought I'd updated!!

I was craving the yong taufu laksa which has proved to be my fav at this place now. There is no comparison. Tonight, the quality was still similar except the veggies like capsicum and okra were smaller. Im hoping it's a winter issue as these are not seasonal. My son had the BBQ pork wonton noodle soup. It didn't look as appetising as pics from other places but he said it was tasty. I felt there was not as much protein either with some bbq pork slices and 2 wontons. We slurped it up on this nippy winter's night and were satisfied!

As we were leaving I let the guy know his YTF Laksa is the best in town. I learnt it's freshly made which explains why it's only available on the weekend. Miss it st your own loss 😁

No MSG effect yet.

2024 I came here a few years ago, and reacted badly to the msg. Since then I stopped coming to Hey until tonight as it was en route from seeing my dad.

I just wanted a quick meal and run. I walked into what seemed like an old kopi diam, with squishy spaces. It was abustle with happy patrons enjoying their meals which I didn't pay much attention to as I was not expecting much, except to confirm my assessment from a million moons ago.

I ordered a hor fun with egg sauce and the weekend special, yong taufu laksa. We got the chopsticks and did the usual clean. Before we knew it, the hor fun arrived. Looked good with generous ingredients and a wok hei flavour about it.

My yong taufu laksa arrived shortly after which was nice and I was gobsmacked! It looked amazing!! And it tasted like no YTL I have ever tasted!! The first thing was the taufu wafer (?), then the full-sized fresh okra, not slimy or squishy but fresh! The fish paste in the YT was generous and so fresh!! Huge large pieces that struggled to fit in my mouth.

The soup was creamy with the coconut, and sambal - authentic. It had the crunch of fresh taugeh and choy sum.

My son also preferred the hor fun compared to other places and he's a connoisseur of HF, with a fussy criteria. I will try that next time.

This should be a 5-star review but I'll reserve that for the next visit.

As we walked out into the balmy carpark, I felt like I could have been back in Asia somewhere. We were done in less than 30 minutes!!!

And to my surprise, all that was less than prices at most places. For the quality and quantity, we're definitely returning!!

Yea,...

Terrible service particularly the staff at the counter. Being a regular customer I'm extremely disappointed with her lack of understanding of Msian food. I ordered Penang Hokkien Noodles as a takeaway. And mind you this is my regular order. First time ordering as a take away I usually dine there. Told the staff that I wanted mixed noodles and please separate the soup from the noodles. She took my order as Fried Hokkien Noodles. Duh. Surely if that were unfamiliar to her would she not have asked me to show what was written on the menu? I ordered Chicken Rice for my husband and when he went to collect he was told the delay is because you wanted soup separately?? We nvr received any soup from the chicken rice. Finally the owner came out and said the girl isn't Msian so she doesn't understand Penang Hokkien Noodles - we call it Prawn Noodles. I go there at least weekly and usually dine in n order Penang Hokkien Noodles. Nvr been told I shouldn't call it Penang Hokkien Noodles. My point is if the staff weren't sure wouldn't alarm bells be ringing when I said mixed noodles n separate the soup?! If it's fried hokkien noodles - it's only hokkien noodles n since when has fried hokkien noodles ever been...

We've been here a few times and really enjoyed the claypot chicken rice. However, during our last visit, we had tried to call to make reservations but we were told that they don't take reservations. That's fine, we are happy to wait for a table at the restaurant. When we got there, they gave us the big table so we went ahead and order our food. Then they told us that they're going to move us to a smaller table which is fine with us as well. This is where it gets frustrating because we've seen people leaving and they have yet to move us to the empty smaller tables. Customers who came later than us are allocated to these smaller tables. Later, a bigger party arrived and told us that the big table is theirs as they have called to make reservations. We ended up having no table and our food is ready. Maybe the restaurant can make up their mind if they take reservations or not. I don't think it's that complicated - allocating the available tables to customers who arrives first respectively. The lady who put us through the whole predicament didn't even apologise or...

In November 2020, Jacky from Malaysia and Ava from Hong Kong decided to start a Malaysian restaurant here. Jacky learned his cooking in Malacca and he will bring you the Malacca satay, curry laksa and Hainan Chicken rice. They used to make time-consuming chicken ball rice but have decided to keep only chicken rice. Their homemade Yong Tau Fu for curry laksa is only available during weekends. Chef recommended dishes are Fried Kuey Teow, Hokkien Mee with crispy pork lard, and crispy Sang Mee with egg sauce. The Bah Kut Teh is only available on Thursday and Friday. The Chef's recommended traditional Clay-pot Chicken Rice will normally take about 15-20 minutes because the rice needs to be freshly cooked and other ingredients such as Lap Cheong will be added later in the cooking process. We have tried Hokkien Mee (a bit sweet), Fried Kuey Teow (it was the dry type with good wok roasted smell), and fried radish cakes (soft textures). Overall, the taste was not bad. When close to noon, almost all tables were taken up. Cheers! (2021-08)

Location is out of the way and surrounded by an older, run-down strip mall / area with graffiti on walls nearby. I drove past it twice, thinking my GPS had sent me to the wrong location. Plenty of free parking directly outside. Help yourself to utensils as no table service which is not unusual. Interesting and authentic menu variety. I chose a few different dishes from the menu, including their Kope tea/coffee which you can order hot or cold and was nice strength and flavor . All the dishes were hot and fresh. Although I can not remember all the names, so i have included some pictures. Reasonable presentation. The Appetiser was nice. The curry Laksa had good flavor and mix of chicken and seafood , whereas the other soup was a bit more bland. The other dish was tasty and hot. The radish cake was very tasty, crispy and hot Not much atmosphere / ambiance but the menu is reasonably large. If you like authentic, then it appears to be the place the locals go as it was half full of customers and others waiting for orders to go.
